The Clifton Wildcats started out as a bunch of guys getting together playing ball just for fun. When the Summer of 2004 came they entertained the idea of starting a team in the Amateur Baseball Association league.

The bunch of players came together to form the Clifton Wildcats led by their Captain Robert Pirchala. Their first season in the ABA started in the "Summer 04 Division," where they finished second to last going a disappointing (2-8) winning their games by forfeit.

The Wildcats worked hard that off season improving on skills and fundamentals they lacked to be a competitor. To give the Wildcats direction in the Spring 05 campaign, Captain Robert Pirchala went and got 2 coaches to run the team that would play in the "Metal B Division." Scott Dispirito was named the General Manager and was in charge of keeping the team together and acquiring new talent to turn the Catz into a competitor. Ken Shermister was named the Manager and was in charge of coaching the games. With their wisdom and a couple of tweaks to the roster, the Wildcats went a respectable (12-7-1) reaching the playoffs for the very first time in franchise history. Although the Wildcats were eliminated in the first round by the Moonachie Mets (who went on to win the Championship) it was a vast improvement from the previous season.

After the Metal B 2005 season, the Wildcats entered into the "Fall B Division" where they immediately established themselves as one of the elite teams in the league. They lost their home opener to the Bergen Indians, but then went on a tear winning 9 games in a row claiming first place in the division (9-1). For the second time in franchise history they made the playoffs and for the first time they made it to the championship game. Unfortunately they were defeated and the Bergen Indians claimed the title.

The Clifton Wildcats came into the 2006 season with high expectations of winning a championship. They added two new players Kris Scotto and Adam Zweibel to their 2006 Spring Season roster.  After a disappointing 2-2 record the Wildcats put together a remarkable 14 game winning streak, but fell short on a tie breaker of winning another divisional championship with an impressive 16-4 record.  Unfortunately for the Wildcats this once great season came to an end as they stumbled into the playoffs mentally which caused them a game in the first round of the playoffs against Essex Cardinals and put an end to their season.

The Clifton Wildcats came back for another Fall Metal B season.  After the 2006 spring season the Wildcats lost Peter Janiec, Steve Spero, Kris Scotto, David Strzeszewski, and Johnny Peralta from their starting line-up to free agency; they also played without Adam Zweibel for personal reasons as well as MVP candidate Rob Pieklo who was sidelined with an injury.  The Wildcats quest for another successful season in the Metal B division and defend their Fall divisional title was a challenge during the 2006 Fall season.  Throughout the year they used nineteen different players to fill in during an injury plagued season.  However the Wildcats still managed to finish the season at .500 ( 5-5 ) and clinched a playoff birth for the fourth consecutive season.  Eventhough their season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs their young team used this fall season as a preparation for the up coming 2007 spring season.

Winning a game or having a successful season is not impossible, but maintaining consistancy and producing a playoff type team season after season is not an easy task at all.  Teams will go through injuries, players will retire or leave due to personal reasons etc, but only the strong teams survive and play through adversity.  One of those teams is the Clifton Wildcats organization who have now presented a playoff team for five consecutive seasons.  As a result of their hard work they have won 69% of their games with a career record of ( 62-27-1 ) which is remarkable for a team who started out 2-8 in their first year of organized baseball.  The only one thing missing from their teams resume is a championship.  In the 2007 spring season the Wildcats improved on their 16 wins from last year by winning 18 games including 16 consecutive victories.  During the season the Wildcats had 12 individual records as well as 4 team records broken.  In addition team captain Robert Pirchala won the Cy award and Rob Pieklo won the MVP award.  They also won the division title for the 2nd time in team history. On paper......this team was very powerful and the favorite to win the Metal B championship.  However, the Wildcats season came to end in the 2nd round of the playoffs to the 2007 Metal B champs the Marlboro Yankees.  It was a sad ending to a very promising season.

The Clifton Wildcats entered into their seventh season and clinched their 3rd divisional championship during the Fall 2007 season.  The Wildcats posted a 9-1 record and had an impressive 27-3 overall record during the 2007 season.  Unfortunately for the Wildcats they could not get enough help during the playoffs as they were shorthanded and were eliminated by the NJ Dodgers; a team that they defeated twice during the season.  Winning a championship is every teams goal but the Wildcats are very satisfied with the amount of players they have in their organization.  Playing a game after a month layoff may determine the outcome of a season, but not the position of a team.  They have become a very successful ballclub for the past 3 years and eventually will win a championship. The Wildcats also have ended their run in Metal B as the team is looking to go into the Wood AA division in 2008 spring season.  They leave Metal B with a 71-28-1 record and three divisional championships.  Their legacy will never be forgotten in Metal B.  The team is very proud of what they have accomplished in the past seven seasons and will look to start a new legacy in the wood league.
