Welcome to the 2010 Chet Nicholson Relays.  Norco High School Track and Field is the host of 2010 Chet Nicholson Relays. We thank all the teams for their continuous support and competitiveness the past 36years.   We are proud to welcome you back to Norco High School as you will get to compete on the new all-weather track and stadium.

ONLINE REGISTRATION:  All teams must send back contracts and complete online regristration through episports.com,  registration closes on MARCH 10, 2010.

Date:  March 20, 2010

Time:  Running and Field Events start at 7:30 a.m. 

Where:  Norco High School, Norco, Calif. 

Coaches Meeting:  Head Coaches meeting held at 6:45 a.m. in coaches hospitality room. Located near the entrance of the stadium on the south side.  Most information will be provided through email prior to meet.  However, we will introduce key meet officials, explain coaches free lunch opportunity, answer any pending questions, and offer any other necessary support.

Coaches Race:  Coaches 4 x 100 relay held immediately after Shuttle Relay.  Report to clerk.  This is not on the official schedule.

Timing:  All races will be FAT using Hytek software and integrated Finishlynx.

Fees:

  • $180 per team ($360 for both Boys and Girls)
  • $20 per individual for Open Mile and 100 (when not attached to a team)
  • $40 per event (when attached to a team)
  • Entry fees due 2/1/2010
  • Make checks payable to Norco HS Athletics

    Schedule:  See below for schedule.

    Running event entries:  You may submit one "A" team and one "B" per running event. All "B" teams are eligible for medals, but will not be factored into the scoring of the meet. Also placings will not be adjusted if a "B" team places in the top 6 positions that count for scoring.  For example if Corona's "B" team places 6th in an event, no team below in scoring for that particular event will take the 6th place point; it will be left vacant.

    NEW EVENTS:  Special Chet Nicholson Sport Bags will be provided to the winners of the Open Events.  As well as medals for 1st-4th places.

    100 METER OPEN-  All teams may submit athletes for considerations for this event. They may do this when they submit their regular online entries.  The Chet Nicholson Selection Committe will review all entries and select up to 27 runners for the boys and girls each.  There will be three heats ran for both the boys and girls.  The winner of each heat and the next 6 fastest runners will run in the finals.    The committee will review all submitted times and athletes and verify anything that they find necessary prior to posting on this website the selected runners.  There will be no additions the day of the meet even if there are drops.  THIS IS A NON-SCORING EVENT.  THE CONSIDERED ATHLETES WILL COME FROM BOTH THE LARGE AND SMALL SCHOOL LISTS. 

    THE BEN GONZALEZ OPEN MILE-  All teams may submit athletes for considerations for this event. may do this when they submit their regular online entries. The Chet Nicholson Selection Committee will select 16 athletes from the submitted considerations for both the boys and girls races.   There will be only one girls race and one boys race.  THIS IS A NON-SCORING EVENT.  THE CONSIDERED ATHLETES WILL COME FROM BOTH THE LARGE AND SMALL SCHOOL LISTS. 

    Field events:  ONLY "A" teams will throw.  You must have three athletes for both the discus and shot events to be placed into competition. All field events will start promptly at 7:30  a.m.  Shot put and discus will adhere to a pre-released flight schedule with 3 teams per flight.  Long and Triple will adhere to a 3 hour event limit per event.  Early events begin at 7:30 a.m., afternoon events begin at 11 a.m. Both Boys and Girls high jump begins at 7:30 a.m.  Girls pole vault starts at 7:30 a.m.,  Boys pole vault begins 30 minutes after the conclusion of the girls events.

RAIN MAKE-UP:

            We will run rain or shine!  Norco HS has an all weather 9 lane track.  If  we have a rain out we will go on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 7:30 A.M.  If you don?t run you?ll get partial refund as per CIF Blue book. 

 

ENTRIES:

Complete all entries online, however send all payments to Norco High School. All payments are due by February 1, 2010 .
 

RACE DIVISIONS:    Girls Small School- Girls Large Schools-Boys Small Schools-Boys Large

Schools.       Small schools:  2000 and smaller.  Large Schools 2001 and larger. 

 

AWARDS:   Top four (4) places in each event medal.  Trophies to the top three (3) teams in each division.  Each winning coach in each division also will earn trophies.  The top Track athlete and top Field athlete will also earn awards.  Each coach is requested to submit their choices to the Games Committee so they can select each top athlete.  COACHES  AND ATHLETES MAY SIGN FOR AND PICK UP AWARDS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED AND MADE OFFICIAL. 

DRESSING FACILITIES:

            Locker rooms are not available.  Restroom facilities will be provided.

 

 

ATHLETE?S ADMISSION:

Athletes and coaches MUST ENTER  on the far east entrance at the front of the stadium. Buses will be directed to parking upon arrival, after first dropping off athletes.  All others (parents, friends, cheerleaders, etc.) must pay for entry. Athletes must be in uniform at all times or they will be charged to re-enter.

COACHES RACE:

The Coaches 400m Relay will immediately follow the Boys & Girls Shuttle Hurdles.  Awards will be given immediately following the end of the race.

            PLEASE NO RINGERS!!  

 

CHET NICHOLSON RELAYS SHIRTS:

Commemorative relay shirts will be on sale for $10.00 each.  I have ordered over 250 shirts for this year.  The last two years we have run out by 11:30 A.M.  If you want some for your team call me to reserve the necessary number. 

 

CONCESSION STAND:

As usual our booster club will man the concession stand with a variety of foods and drinks to be sold at competitive prices.

 

SPIKES/RIBBONS:

?? pyramids must be used in all running events as well as HJ, LJ, TJ, & PV. Spikes will be checked prior to all events.  Spikes and medal ribbons will be sold at the hospitality booth. Spikes are $3.00 per doz. And ribbons are $1.00 each. 

 

CLERK OF THE COURSE:

The Clerk of the Course checking in athletes will be on the inner field of track (football field).  All running events MUST check in here.  Field events will check in at the event itself.   We will have random spike checks. Please make sure your athletes have the proper spike or they will miss their event. No cell phones or i-pods will be allowed!


LONG JUMP/TRIPLE JUMP:

There will be a 3 hour time limit for the Boys & Girls Long Jump and another 3 hour time limit for the Boys & Girls Triple Jump.  Athletes may jump in any order but when the time limit is up the event will be closed regardless of how many jumps an athlete has left.  Each athlete will have three (3) jumps each. 

 

POLE VAULT:

All schools will use common pits.  We may use both pits if required.  Both girls divisions will vault first followed by the boys.

 

DISCUS: (Located at the Southwest end of the home bleachers)

The discus is the Southwest ring on the lower practice field (next to the Varsity Baseball field).    Each athlete will get three (3) throws.  Throw in order of flights on designated rings.   Pre-assigned flights with 3 teams per flights will be used. 

SHOT PUT: (Located at the Southwest end of the home bleachers)

The shot put ring is the Northwest ring on the lower practice field Next to Varsity Baseball field. While the girls are throwing the discus the boys will throw the shot and vice versa.  They will throw in order of flights on the designated rings.  Each athlete will get three (3) throws. Pre-assigned flights with 3 teams per flights will be used. 

 

HIGH JUMP:

We will have two pits.  The girls and boys (all divisions)  will start at 7:30 a..m.

            Girls High Jump        4'0              Boys High Jump        5'0

            Girls Pole Vault         6'0               Boys Pole Vault         9'0'

 

UNIFORMS:

Please remember full-length jerseys must be worn and track shorts must cover any body parts. Also, NO Jewelry, except medical alerts, is to be worn.   Please refer to the National Federation Rule Book.  Anchors for "B" will be provided ribbons to attach to uniform to identify "B" teams at the conclusion of races.  In case of combined division races, as in distance races, small school divisions will be provided color specific ribbons to identify them as a small school team. 

 

PROTESTS:

Must be made in written form 10 minutes after the event is completed to the Games Committee.  The Games Committee will consist of TBA. 

SCORING:  10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 as per National Federation rules.

 

PARTICIPANTS WARM-UP AREA:

TBA ABSOLUTELY NO WARM-UP ON THE TRACK!!

 

PASSES:

Only official CIF passes and working press passes will be honored at the gate.

 

OFFICIAL PROGRAM:

Programs will be available for $3.00 each.  Coaches? packet will contain the listings of races and field events not an official program.

 

TRAINER:

A qualified trainer will be on site.  Please provide your own supplies, as it is impossible for me to do so for the entire meet.

COACHES TABLE:

There will be a Coaches Check-in table upon your arrival.  We will have a short, but necessary, coaches? meeting at 6:45 A.M.

 

EVENTS/MEDALS TABLE:

Will be located next to the coaches table.  Please only coaches at this table, NO ATHLETES! Please pick up your medals 15 minutes after the event has ended. Results will be posted on the fence outside the main entrance.  Please be patient. 

 

RADIOS:

All of you know they are not allowed at track meets.  They are a nuisance and hinder the meet.  Leave them on the bus or they will be confiscated and returned at the end of the meet. 

 

INFIELD:

PLEASE, PLEASE KEEP YOUR NON-PARTICIPATING ATHLETES, PARENTS, GIRLFRIENDS, ETC. OFF THE INFIELD.  ALL ATHLETES AND COACHES ARE TO STAY OFF THE INFIELD UNLESS COMPETING!  For the athlete to be successful, they need to know how this meet is conducted.  Please insure that everyone is informed of the rules.  We do this for safety and fairness to the competition.

PARKING:

Buses will drop off athletes at the entrance to the stadium and be directed to a parking location.  All others will have the school parking lots to utilize.
