HAVOC 7 - GRIZZLIES 37
6/29/8 - First off, Florence is a great little football town. The stands were full of small town football fans rooting on their team, the Colorado Havoc, which for a first year team, has lots of potential to build into a very solid organization. The Havoc players play good, hard, clean football, and that's important for the CFC and semi-pro football in general.
The Grizzlies on the other hand, didn't look very solid. Even though the defense threw a shoutout, they gave up an 11 minute drive to the Havoc in the 2nd quarter. After a tongue lashing by the coaches late in that long drive, the defense forced the Havoc into giving the ball over on downs inside the 5 yd line. Other than that, the Havoc offense didn't move the ball with any regularity. Offensively, the Grizz O is still struggling, but still managed 37 points against the tough Havoc defense. Again, RB's Michael Jennings and Neil Collins proved too much on the ground for the Havoc as they managed three TD's between them. Grizz QB Zach Magalei played throw and catch with WR Ken Williams and TE Issiah Magalei for the tune of a couple of TD's. Grizzlies' kicker Kevin Van Voris was again in the mix of things, keeping the Havoc KO return team under wraps most of the evening with booming kickoffs into the end zone. The lone Havoc score came in the fourth quarter when the Havoc blocked the only Grizzlies' punt of the evening and returned it 15 yds for the TD.
Hats off to the Colorado Havoc and the whole town of Florence for a quality CFC/semi-pro football experience. |
