Knights Announce Appointment of New Head Coach! 8/10/2009Orlando, FL, August 10, 2009 – The Men’s Lacrosse team at the University of Central Florida announces its new addition to the 2009 –2010 lacrosse campaign. The Knights have hired John Drehoff of Winter Springs, Florida to be Head Coach of their distinguished collegiate lacrosse program.
Drehoff has an extensive lacrosse background and is arguably one of the most qualified head coaches in the southeast. An All-American starter for the US Naval Academy, Drehoff has held prominent coaching positions at both the high school and club levels. He has coached the Winter Springs High School Varsity Boys Lacrosse team for the last ten years where he has accomplished 109W-27L, 10 District Championships, 5 Conference Championships, 4 Regional Championships, 4 HS All Americans, and USLO Coach of the year. He has also coached Possums Club teams, winning numerous tournaments throughout the country for the last 4 yrs., and has coached SLC Youth teams for the last 10 yrs. He is a Certified US Lacrosse Trainer and board member of USLO. Drehoff is making memories and spreading the sport throughout Central Florida.
With the addition of John Drehoff and returning 8 starters from the 2009 season, UCF is expected to be the strongest contender for the SELC Championship in the Spring 2010 season.  |
