Spring League
Hello Ladies!!!! Welcome to the start of the 2010 lacrosse season. REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!!!!!
What: We are the Colorado Women's Lacrosse Association. We are comprised of post-collegiate women of all ages and skill levels. We strive to have 6 teams within the women's club and will play colleges within Colorado whose schedule allows. Each team may have up to 12-14 games depending on schedule and team availability.
When: We play our games every Sunday with the season starting February 28th and ending on May 23rd with a Finals Tournament. We do not typically practice unless an individual teams chooses to do so and organizes it accordingly.
Who: YOU. Once you register, you will be placed on a team based on your request to play with certain members on a certain team as well as skill level. You will be contacted by your team representative with the details for your team and the season.
Where: We typically play most of our games at parks in Denver or Dick's Sporting Goods Park. We are still finalizing those fields. You may be required to travel for a game or two and that could be in Boulder, Greeley, Fort Collins, Golden or Colorado Springs.
Attendance: We try to roster a minimum of 20 players per team. Attendance is very important so please do everything you can to make the games, even if we do have to travel. Once the schedule is posted, we would ask each player to make sure they can commit to at least 80% of the games. Please be at the games at least 30 minutes early. Please call your team rep, if you are ever unable to make a game.
Goggles: Goggles are required and plus, we look hot wearing them. If you have extras please bring them to the games in case people forget. www.uslacrosse.org has a list of approved goggles online. Along with goggles, mouthpieces are also mandatory for all games. Goalies need mouth guards too. You will not be able to play without a mouth guard and goggles.
Jerseys: Jerseys are the responsibility of each Team Representative and they will have a plan for your team.
E-mail: Your Team Reps will typically email you every week with information about the upcoming games and ask that you let them know if you will be there or not. Please reply to these e-mails, or we kind of start to lose that lovin' feelin. Most of the communication from your team reps will be through email, so if this does not work for you, please let them know.
Cancellations: If the weather is ever questionable your team representative will have a plan in place for notification.
Show Me The Money: The requirements to play are CWLA dues of $115 if you register prior to January 15th, 2010, and a US Lacrosse membership. If you register after that date your dues will increase to $135. The expenses are for officials, fields, tournament fees, phone calls, mailings, etc. Your CWLA dues need to be paid in full before your first game.
USL: CWLA is a member of US Lacrosse Inc. so each player is required to be a national member and pay the $50 dues or $65 if the player is also a coach and/or umpire. You can view this link to read about your benefits: http://www.uslacrosse.org/membership/benefits.phtml. Anyone who is new to our organization or who has not renewed by the start of the season can do this on line at www.uslacrosse.org. You can not play in any game without being a member of US Lacrosse and we really want you to be able to play. This is for insurance reasons. Please bring your USL number with you to the first game. If your membership expires halfway through the season, you must renew as well.
Officials: Please be considerate to them. Many of the players in our league have committed their time to officiate as well. We appreciate their participation in our league so high five them every once in a while. If you are interested in becoming an official, please contact Frank Bailey from the Colorado Women's Lacrosse Officials Association. Their website is http://www.cwloa.com/ and the contact information is located under "Become An Official."
Schedule: Please mark your calendars with the current schedule once it is distributed but try to remain open for schedule changes and make-up games in case of bad weather. We will post the schedule here on the website when it is complete. Be to the first game one hour early so information can be verified, you can meet your teammates, throw around, and we can gossip about the other club teams.
Locations: You can find directions to all fields and events on our website www.cowomenslax.org. Just click on Locations.
If you have any questions, comments, or requests please don't hesitate to ask. You can e-mail me at acp0505@yahoo.com.
