DAYTON WILL SHINE WITH DIAMONDS
The National Women's Football Association has announced the formation of an expansion team in Dayton, Ohio. The NWFA is the premiere league for women's tackle football.
The team is owned by Tanya Jackson. Jackson has quite a history in women's football. In the 70's she played for the Dayton Fillies, served as Head Coach and coached defensive linebackers. She was also a defensive coach with the Dayton Rebellion.
"I just loved football. It's in my blood. Owning a football team has been a dream of mine forever and I cannot tell you how excited I am to be a part of the NWFA. Women's football has grown a lot since I played in the 70's and I can't wait to do my part to help this sport really explode," Jackson states.
The NWFA is very pleased to have Jackson as an owner. "This woman has an incredible passion for the game of football and we are certain she will create a most successful team. This new team will bring some great competition and rivalries to our league," states league VP, Debby Lening.
The Dayton Diamonds hosting tryouts currently and they will be ready to play in the up coming 2008 season.
