Take one at-bat, one pitch, one ground ball, one throw, and one game at a time!
Here comes the Hawks!
I am speaking on behalf of the Coaching Staff of the Decatur Central Hawks JV TEAM.
We would like to Thank the Players for coming out and working hard every day to make themselves better baseball players and better people and for buying into the things we as a Coaching Staff were trying to teach them.
We would also like to thank our managers
Haley Brown and Tiffany Spaulding for all they did and for putting up with the Coaching Staff.
We would also like to THANK the parents for coming out and supporting our players and Coaching staff and for sitting back and enjoying watching their young men play and for rooting for the TEAM throughout the season through the good times and the not so good times.
We want to also Thank Coach Webster and the A.D. Mr. Opel for giving us the oppurtunity to Coach such a fine group of young men.
I am personally "VERY PROUD" of each and every one of the Players that played on our TEAM this year. The way they carried themselves(swagger) to each and every game, the sportsmanship that they always showed, the fun that they had with each other, the way they put the TEAM first, the way they never gave up and for being the true definition of the word "TEAM".
There were alot of opposing Coaches that complimented the Team for the way they took "The get down to business approach" and the Coaches would also say that our team
"Played the game the right way."
Thanks for your support!
Coach McGlothlin, Coach Bible and
Coach Brindle

Congradulations to:
"Your DC HAWKS JV TEAM"

for winning the Hamilton County/ Marion County JV Invitational Tournament at Fishers High School on Saturday 5/16. They beat Fishers HS 5-3 in their 1st round game and then beat Westfield HS 7-6 in the Championship game.
The DC JV Hawks(18-3-1) came out flat with the bats and never really got on track against the Whiteland Warriors. The outcome was a disappointing 4-2 loss for the Hawks. Pitcher Corey Smith pitched a very good game giving up 2 earned runs while striking out 7. The defense played well only making only 1 error. The Hawks only managed 3 hits with Terry McGlothlin hitting a homerun over the scoreboard in left center and Derek Gillen doubling into the right centerfield gap(scoring from second on a perfectly executed bunt by
Donnie Ivey on a steal and bunt situation) and Austin Stidam singling into rightfield. The Hawks had a great year despite taking a heartbreaking loss in the last game of the year.
The DC Hawks JV TEAM(18-2-1) over powered Sheridan 23-5 in 5 Innings to win the Triton Central Invitational. Freshman Cole Keeley(got his 1st win as a JV player) and Shaine Morris pitched a very good game. The Hawks offense came out on fire from the beginning.Catcher Brandon Bible and 1st baseman Terry McGlothlin led the game off with back to back Homeruns. The Hawks offense was led by Brandon Bible's 4 hits(2 homeruns with 1 of them being a grandslam), Terry McGlothlin's 2 hits(1 homerun), Eric Howell's 2 hits and a host of other Hawks had 1 hit apiece. The defense played very solid.
The DC Hawks JV TEAM(17-2-1) beat a very good hitting Connnersville Baseball Team 8-4. The Hawks got an outstanding pitching performance from Freshman Zach Mitchell. Zach pitched a complete game to get the victory(his 1st as a JV player). On the other side of the ball Zach came up with a big 2 out 3-run homerun to give the Hawks a 6-4 lead that let the air out of Connersville.
The Hawks was led on offense by Ron Shelton's 3 hits and Terry McGlothlin, Austin Stidam,Corey Smith and Donnie Ivey had 2 hits apiece.
The defense was solid with catcher Austin Stidam playing huge behind the dish.
The DC JV team(16-2-1) rolled into the friendly baseball field at North Central and came away with a 10-6 victory over the Panthers of North Central. The Hawks pitchers led by Corey Smith, Shaine Morrris and Brandon Bible pitched a real nice game.
The offense was led by Brandon Bible's 3 hits, Derek Gillen also had 3 hits and a host of other Hawks had hits that accounted for a total of 11 hits and 10 runs.
DC Hawks JV(15-2-1) beat Pike HS JV 13-2 in 5 innings behind pitchers Brandon Bible and Shaine Morris. The defense played well and the offense hit it all over the place to get the victory.
The DC Hawks JV team(14-2-1) came out flat on the defensive side of the baseball and the Roncalli Rebels excepted the 14-7 gift that they were handed. The Hawks pitchers had seen better days on the mound. The offense hit the baseball but left alot of runners in scoring position early and often.
We just have to flush this one and move on to a better day.
DC Hawks JV(14-1-1) came out slow and then picked it up to beat Park Tudor 13-4.
Pitcher Zack Weldon pitched a complete game and he pitched well for the most part striking out 9.
The Hawks defense wasn't helping the pitcher much at the beginning but they picked it up and played well the rest of the way.
The offense was led by Ronnie Shelton(3rd homerun of the season),Travis Powers, Eric Howell, Corey Smith and a host of other Hawks to combine for 15 hits and 13 runs to prove to be too much for the Panthers to overcome.
The DC Hawks JV Team(13-1-1) beat a very good Westfield HS JV baseball team 7-6 to become the
Hamilton County/Marion County Invitational Tournament Champs!
Hawks Pitcher Austin Stidam pitched 5 2/3 strong innings and Brandon Bible came in to close Westfield out in the 6th inning and didn't allow a runner in the 7th inning to get the save. The Hawks defense made plays when it counted and the Hawks offense was led by Terry McGlothlin's 2 hits and seven other Hawks had 1 hit apiece.
The DC Hawks JV Team (12-1-1) won a hard fought game over tournament host Fishers HS JV team 5-3 in the first round of the Hamilton County/Marion County Invitational tournament. Pitcher Corey Smith gave up 1 earned run in 5 1/3 innings and Austin Stidam came in to close it out for the Hawks by pitching the final 1 2/3 innings. The Hawks offense was led by Corey Smith's 3 hits and Kyle Norris's 2 hits and 4 other Hawks had 1 hit apiece.
DC Hawks JV (11-1-1) came out on hot and beat Plainfield High School's JV team 9-0 in a conference game.
Pitchers Austin Stidam (5 innings no-hitter), Shaine Morris (no hits) and Zach Mitchell (1 hit) combined for a 1 hitter and the defense played great behind them for the victory.
The offense was led by Kyle Norris's 3 hits(1 homerun) and Brandon Bible's 2 hits(homerun and a double) and a host of Hawks with 1 hit.
The DC JV Hawks(10-1-1) rebounded well from the their first loss of the season by getting their offense back on track against the Woodmen of Greenwood 12-4. The offense was led by Eric Howell (3 hits and 3 RBI's) and there was 4 other Hawks that had 2 hits apiece led by Donnie Ivey, Corey Smith, Austin Stidam and Ronnie Shelton who had a long homerun to leftfield in the 1st inning.
Starting Pitcher Terry McGlothlin got into trouble early and Relief specialist Shane Morris came in and gave the Hawks a strong 1 2/3 innnings and Brandon Bible came in and finished it off for the win.
The defense was a little rattled at the beginning but settled down and made the plays at the end of the game.
On a day that we knew from the start it was going to be a long day and it was. The DC Hawks JV (9-1-1) came out flat and stayed that way until Lawerence Central won 8-5. We just have to learn from our mistakes and move forward.
In a game full of emotion the Hawks(9-0-1) battled The Fighting Irish of Cathedral to a 5-5 draw. The Hawks kept getting the lead but couldn't hold it against a very good Cathedral Team. Pitcher Corey Smith pitched well and then handed the ball over to Brandon Bible after 7 1/3 innings and Bible pitched well the final 2 2/3 innnings in the 9 inning game called because of darkness. The Hawks offense was led by Derek Gillen's 3 hits(1 being a triple), Terry McGlothlin's 2 hits(1 being a run scoring double), Eric Howell's 2 hits, Austin Stidam had a 2 run double and Ronnie Shelton had a long Homerun to left field to close out the Hawks scoring.
On defense Kyle Norris played the best game of the season behind the plate throwing out every would be base runner and picking them off if they got too far away from the base that they were on.
We as a TEAM learnt some good things about ourselves today and we also know that we have to work on somethings that will make us better players and better teammates.
The DC JV Hawks(9-0) started the game against Ben Davis sluggish. When the 2nd inning started they got a wake up call from the Coaching staff and they started to hit on all cylinders. Eight players in the line up had at least 2 hits apiece. Led by Kyle Norris's 4 hits, Corey Smith had 3 hits (1 of them being a long homerun to centerfield) and Terry McGlothlin had 3 hits (including a long homerun to leftfield). At the end of the game the offense accounted for 21 hits and 12 runs for a 12-5 win.
Starting pitcher Shane Morris settled down after the 1st inning and pitched 5 innings before handing the Baseball to Brandon Bible, who came in and faced 7 batters in 2 innings to help the Hawks preserve the win.
The defense started slow but picked it up after the first inning and played well for the last 6 innings.
Patience was the word of the day for the DC Hawks JV TEAM(8-0). That's how it was when the Perry Meridian Falcons came to DC Hawks Varsity Field on a beautiful Saturday morning. Perry came out with an early 3-0 lead through 3 innings. Then the Hawks scored a run in the 4th to make it 3-1. Then came the 5th inning and the hit parade started when Kyle Norris single to lead off the inning. Three triples in a row by Brandon Bible ,Terry McGlothlin and Eric Howell, a walk to Austin Stidam, singles by Corey Smith, Derek Gillen, a hard hit ball by Donnie Ivey (that the second baseman couldn't handle), a bunt single by Cody Elder and another hit by Brandon Bible and the Hawks finished the inning(and the game for the most part) with 8 hits, a walk, an error, 6 stolen bases for a total of 8 runs in the 5th inning.
Again, the Hawks got an outstanding performance from pitcher Corey Smith. Corey battled all 7 innings to get the Hawks a 9-3 win. He and Brandon Bible led the team with 3 hits apiece.
This was a TEAM effort again by the Hawks getting very good performances from the defense, the offense and their pitcher. They never give up because they have a will to win and they "Trust their Teammates, they Trust their Skills and they Trust their Coaches."
The Hawks(7-0) defense set the tone in the first inning against the Southport Cardinals. The Cardinals started with a double and a single with a runner getting thrown out at home on a perfect relay throw to catcher Kyle Norris. The 3rd hitter in the lineup hit a single to left that made it runners on 1st and 2nd. The the 4th hitter in the line up smashed the ball to shortstop Brandon Bible that was turned into a 6-4-3 double play.
Hawks pitcher Shane Morris pitched a great game only giving up 2 runs while pitching a complete game.
The Hawks offense took over when they got their chance by pounding out 11 hits and running every chance they could. They scored 3 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd and 6 in the 4 for the final score of 13-2.
Brandon Bible hit his first homerun of the season by hitting it to left field and landing it into the parking lot.
Kyle Norris also homered to deep centerfield in the 4th inning.
We are really playing all aspects of the game very well right now. We need to continue to play 1 game at a time and continue to have fun so we can play relaxed.
The Hawks(6-0) play their most complete game of the season against visiting Martinsville beating them 15-5. Brandon Bible led the way with his Pitching and hitting. He pitched a complete game and went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles, 2rbi's, 4 runs scored with 6 stolen bases. There were
a host of Hawks that played well on both sides of the baseball. There were alot of good defensive plays throughout the game on a beautiful day at the Decatur Central Varsity field.
The Hawks pounded out 12 hits(including Kyle Norris's 2nd homerrun of the season) and ran the bases very well.
They really played like a TEAM and had alot of fun in doing so.
We have a big game tonight so we have to forget this game and get ready to play a very good Southport team.
The Hawks(5-0) win 10-3 against Martinsville on the road. Hawks pitchers Corey Smith(6k's in 5 innings) and Shane Morris (3k's in 2 innings) pitched very well and the defense played very well until late in the game giving them 3 unearn runs. On offense Eric Howell led the way with 3 hits (single ,double and his first homerun of the season) and 3 RBI's and Brandon Bible had 2 hits(single and double) and drove in 2 runs.
Once again the Hawks ran wild stealing 17 bases.
We have to learn to execute in certain situation. We also need to stay focus and realize there is 2 sides to the baseball and not let one side affect the other.
When we start doing that, we will start to become a very special baseball TEAM!
Wow! The Hawks(4-0) hustled their way to a victory! Again the Hawks got a good pitching performance from their pitching staff. Austin Stidam held Mooresville 4 innings of scoreless baseball and then turn it over to Corey Smith and he pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief. The defense really flashed the leather behind their pitchers by coming up big every time they had the chance.
On a day where the Hawks offense(6 hits) struggled, the hustle plays(13 steals) that they made took over the game. The first run of the game came when Kyle Norris stole home to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Austin Stidam and Corey Smith hustle their way to 2nd base on high fly balls that got caught up in the sun and landed in the grass. Derek Gillen came through with a looping line drive over the drawn in infield to make it 3-0 and we tacked on 2 more runs to make the final score 5-0. There were 6 different Hawks that had 1 hit apiece. The TEAM has really come together and they work extremely hard every day! They have alot fun on and off the field and support each other at all times. Great Job Hawks!
The Hawks JV team beat Mooresville 14-5 behind good pitching by Terry McGlothlin and Brandon Bible. The offensive was led by Austin Stidam(4-4 1 Homerun), Eric Howell(2 hits) Brandon Bible key 3 run triple and a host of other Hawks came up big in key moments of the game. The defense played well enough to win but came up big when the game could of gone the other way in the 4th inning. There were
no outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd and Hawks catcher Kyle Norris pick the runner off 3rd and then there was a hit and run that the batter popped up and the ball was caught by a Hawk and the throw to 2nd base was made just before the Pioneer got back to the bag and the inning was over and the Hawks took advantage of it and rolled to the victory.
First Home game Franklin Community (4/9/2009).
Hawks JV TEAM (2-0) beat Franklin Community for the second straight night but this time at home by the score of 7-5. Again the Hawks pitchers Corey Smith(7k's in 5 innings) and Shane Morris (2 k's in 2 innings) came out and pitched well.
The offense scored enough runs to get the job done. They were led by Brandon Bible( 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 1 rbi), Eric Howell's(2 doubles and a run scored), Austin Stidam's(2 hits, 1 run scored and 2 stolen bases), Donnie Ivey's(key double on a hit and run to drive in 2 runs and he also scored a run) and a key sacafice fly by Derek Gillen.
The Defense played well enough to win but we have some things we still need to iron out.
Again, Eric Howell showed some leadership and a host of Hawks have really bought into it and we are coming together as a TEAM.
First road game Franklin Community (4/8/09).
Decatur Central's JV TEAM (1-0) gets off to a fast start.
Powered by pitchers Terry McGlothlin(6 k's in 5 1/3 innings) and Shane Morris(3 k's in 1 2/3 innings) the Hawks went on to a 9-4 victory over conference foe Franklin Community. The hitting and speed of the offense really played a big role in the victory. The Hawks offense was led by McGlothlin(single, double, Homerun, 2 runs scored,4 rbi's and a stolen base), Norris(Triple, Homerun 2 runs scored and 1 rbi), Bible(2 hits, 3 runs scored and 3 stolen bases),Howell(2 hits, sac, 1 rbi) and Smith(3 walks and 2 stolen bases) and Stidam(double, 1 run scored and 1 rbi).
This was our 1st game and we did alot of things right but there are things we need to work on. Mentally I think we did a good job overall
but we need to work on somethings. We have a great TEAM leader in Eric Howell and he is the type of player that every Coach loves to have. We are hoping that he rubs off on some of the younger players. We play Franklin again tonight and we need to come out and play hard again and not have a let down.
