CONSTITUTION OF THE DURANGO HIGH SCHOOL BLAZER CRAZIES

 

BLAZER CRAZY APPLICATION 

 
 


Preamble

We, the members of the Durango High School Blazer Crazies, in order to establish unity among all students and to promote the general welfare and spirit of the school, do ordain and establish this constitution.

Article I
- Name
Section 1.
The name of this organization shall be known as the Durango High School
Blazer Crazies
.

Article II
- Purposes
Section 1
. The Purpose of this organization shall be:
1. To promote a high standard of conduct in leadership, honesty, loyalty, and courtesy.
2. To promote cooperation so as to develop better school spirit.
3. To strengthen relations with neighboring schools.
4. To strive for better relations between the general public and all Durango High students.
5. To develop the most desirable social ideals, attitudes, and habits among students.
6. To act as a stimulant and inspiration in building a strong relationship between all student activities.
7. To create a fellowship among all students.

Article III
- Membership
Section 1. A student must have at least satisfactory marks upon their report cards and a completed membership application to be acknowledge as an applicant of the
Blazer Crazies.
Section 2.
Upon meeting the requirements of Section I, the applicant will receive an invitation to attend the next Blazer Crazies meeting where upon the officers of the Blazer Crazies
shall vote upon the acceptance/ non acceptance of the applicant.
Section 3.
All applicants seeking officer positions shall be interviewed by the current
Blazer Crazies
and then a vote will be held upon the acceptance/ non acceptance of the applicant.

Article III
- Membership(continued)
Section 4.
Duties of the Officers:
1. President:
A. He/she shall preside over all
Blazer Crazies
meetings and events.
B. He/she shall call special meetings when the occasion presents itself.
C. He/she shall appoint all committees and committee chairmen dealing with the business of the
Blazer Crazies
.
D. He/she shall be a standing member of all committees.
E. He/she shall select one representative to the student council.
2. Vice-President
A. He/she shall preside over the
Blazer Crazies
meetings or events in the absence of the President.
B. He/she shall be a standing member of all committees in the absence of the President.
3. Secretary
A. He/she shall keep an accurate account of all meetings. The minutes from the previous meeting are to be read aloud at each meeting.
B. He/she shall keep an accurate roll of all members.
C. He/she shall send invitations to candidates for membership.
4. Treasurer
A. He/she shall keep an accurate account of all funds. He/She shall give a report of all expenditures at every meeting.
B. All money transactions shall be handled by the Treasurer.
5. Sergeant-At-Arms
A. He/she shall assist the President in keeping order at meetings.
B. He/she shall evict any member, on the President's command, for disorder.

Article IV
- Student Council Representatives
Section 1.
The President of the Blazer Crazies shall appoint one representative to Student Council. A representative is to attend all Student Council and ICC meetings. (InterClub Council)

Article V
- Election of Officers
Section 1.
The Election of officers shall be held in the spring preceding the school year in which the officers are to serve.
Section 2.
Nominations for all five offices shall be held if there are more than two candidates running for one office.
Section 3.
A Constitutional test shall be given go all candidates before a primary or general election.
Section 4.
A Primary election shall be held if there are more than two candidates running for one office.

Section 5.
A General election shall be held with a secret ballot vote at a time designated by the President.
Section 6.
Qualifications for Officers:
1. President - Shall be a Junior at the time of his/her election.
2. Vice-President - Shall be a Junior at the time of his/her election.
3. Secretary - Shall be a Junior or Sophomore at the time of his/her election.
4. Treasurer - Shall be a Junior or Sophomore at the time of his/her election.
5. Sergeant-At-Arms - Shall be a Junior at the time of his/her election.

Article VI -
Impeachment of Officers
Section 1. The President and all officers shall be removed from office by impeachment for any convictions or justifiable cause by a two-thirds vote of the Blazer Crazies
members.
Section 2. In case of the removal of the President, the Blazer Crazies Vice-President shall assume the duties of the President for the remainder of the year.
