TO: U-13 Youth Festival Team Parents & Players
CC: Harry Mazaheri – Central PA President, US Lacrosse
WOW! What a great weekend. I cannot thank the players enough for making it such a wonderful experience. As I shared with the parents who attended the event, I will be recapping the event by next Monday morning on our website. I will be downloading, uploading and embedding as many pictures as I can on our site. If you have any “cool” photos from this past weekend that you would like to share with me, please email them to me this week.
As for feedback, it is really important to me that I get feedback from all 20 players. I also welcome feedback from any parents who may want to provide their thoughts and comments. The feedback we received from the opposing coaches, players, parents as well as officials was outstanding. Much of that will be included on the website update. Please make sure your son takes a few minutes to complete the form on line. It should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Please allow your son to complete the areas that are noted as “PLAYER” and you can complete the area noted “PARENT”.
To access the survey, please go to our website below. Once on the home page of the Eastern York KNIGHTS, click on Registration and the survey will appear. Please complete all the sections.
Attached are the directions for how to wash the travel shirts. Please note that you should wash them inside out and make sure nothing sharp is in the washing machine or dryer (like something with Velcro on it).
Some of the coaches we played asked us how we were able to have such a “classy” team…the culture all starts with the ROOTS philosophy below…thanks!
===============================
** ROOTS – HONOR THE GAME (PCA):
As I shared the first time we got together, we will work with the players to help them to understand the ROOTS culture. This is an abbreviation for:
Rules ==> We refuse to bend the rules
Opponents ==> A worthy opponent is a gift that brings out our best
Officials ==> Show respect even when we disagree – tonight’s lesson
Teammates ==> Never do anything to embarrass our team
Self ==> We live up to our own standards even when others don't
The US Lacrosse Youth Festival is an event held nationally to celebrate the game of lacrosse. There will be roughly (16) boys and (15) girls teams at the event this weekend. We have all been asked and given the same information as it relates to behavior, expectations and following the rules. Please reinforce to your sons that while away, I am ultimately responsible for them so they will need to help me the entire trip. I do not anticipate any issues or concerns, but a gentle reminder to them would be appreciated. The event has no champions crowned, no trophies, no pool play and in fact, they do not keep score during the games. We will however go out and play with 100% effort to try to win each and every game. After each game, we will be presenting our opponents with a care package from Central PA (a Harley Davidson goodie bag filled with Central PA snacks and candy). The boys will be helping to make them when we arrive in Mason, OH on Friday morning.
