The Wisdom of Eastman

Our "Play-in" Playoff game was Monday night and on Tuesday morning I received an email from "the wise one" Steve Eastman and I decided to give a game summary paraphrasing a bit from his email and adding of few of my own thoughts.

HERE IS WHAT WE KNOW:

1.  A punch was thrown by an APL with a face-wash response by a Flyer. According to the official, both players threw punches.  Both then should have been thrown out of the game.  The call:  2:00 each for roughing-end of discussion.  (this will be noted with IHOC)  Update:  The powers to be reviewed the incident on video and saw no punches thrown.  The ref claimed both threw punches.  The video must have not had a good angle to see it.

2.  APL once again, played with an illegal player who did not meet the minimum requirement of 8 regular season games.  We did not know this until the next day.  Our previous game against them ended in a forfeit when we protested an illegal player during the second period (during that game the player skated out at full speed, grabbed the puck and did the ol' Sidney Crosby bounce the puck off your blade while going down the ice).  I'm sure that happens a lot in the Bronze league! HA!  So, the question is, do the rules apply to the skatetown employee team?
Update:  On Tuesday morning the illegal player had played in 7 games according to the stat sheet.  Today he is shown as having played 9 games.  Apparently # of games can be altered with the click of a computer key.  Scorekeeper error...

3.  During the game on Monday night, the scorekeeper was reading and highlighting her book and not paying attention to the game.  Has that happened before?  Update:  I heard she got a raise!  HA!

4.  She did it again...master stickhandler & sniper Laura Casper scored the game winning goal in the shootout.  In our last match-up, she scored the tying goal in the third to put the game into a shootout.  Update:  Watchout Volcanoes...she is a sneaky one!

5.  We outshot them 56-27, and are extremely proud of how we played as a team.
Update:  We'll be ready to play the midnight game...oh, I mean 10:15.
6.  They put the puck in the net three times, we put it in twice.  Ya' win some and ya' lose some.  That's why you play the games.
Update:  We still lost 3-2...good luck to all teams in the playoffs.

so it goes...#40
