FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: What should I wear to intramurals and tryouts?
A: Tanktops, shirts that have holes or are torn and/or frayed in any way are not permitted at any time unless previously authorized by a member of the coaching staff. T-shirts must be free of inappropriate language and images (as judged by the coaching staff) and a sports bra should be worn. Shoes must be running shoes or court shoes (shoes without black soles). No street shoes will be permitted in the gym. Athletic shorts or spandex should be worn to intramurals and tryouts. Jean shorts, capri's, khakis or jeans of any kind will not be permitted. Socks must be worn with shoes and hair must be pulled back and out of your face. Jewelry is prohibited.

Q: What is a physical packet?
A: You must complete a physical packet providing proof of health and insurance before attending tryouts or any other volleyball related activity. This can be purchased in the athletic office for 10.00 at any time.

Q: What do I need to purchase if I make the team?
A: If you are selected for one of our teams, you will be provided with a list of required equipment that you will need to purchase. Costs are generally 80.00 (may vary year to year) and include: active ankles, two pairs of team socks, two team practice shirts, and 1 pair of knee pads. If you would like to purchase additional gear you may do so at any time by informing a member of the coaching staff. You will also need to purchase solid navy blue or solid black spandex. These are the only colors that will be acceptable to wear to practice. Spandex that are patterned or are not the correct colors are not to be worn to practice at any time. The only acceptable sock color is solid white. No patterns or designs may be present on the socks, logos (mizuno, nike, etc.) are acceptable.

Q: What are Active Ankles?
A: Active Ankles are protective supports for your ankles that must be worn at all times to practice to help prevent serious injuries that may occur in practice and competition. It is considered a part of your uniform and must be treated as such.

Q: Does everyone make a team?
A: No. The amount of players to be kept on each team will be determined by the coaching staff and/or the amount of jerseys available. This will be based on skill and potential to improve our program's success in competition.

Q: Does everyone get equal playing time?
A: No. Playing time will be determined by the coaching staff. Coaches will not discuss playing time with parents and will make decisions about who plays the most, based on performance in practice and which players will lead to team to success in competition.

Q: Is it alright to miss practices or games during the season?
A: No. After being selected for a team, you must commit youself 100% to the program. Unexcused absences will result in removal from the team. Family trips, vacations, club sports, church activities and any other activity that interferes with the practice/game schedule or team activities will be considered unexcused; this includes saturday practices and/or tournaments. Excessive tardies will also be considered unexcused absences. Any time you think you may be late you must contact your coach to see if it is an acceptable reason. In case of emergency situations or severe illness, you must contact your coach immediately. If you miss practice for an illness, a doctor's note must be provided upon return for the absence to be considered excused - no exceptions.
 
Q: After the Match, may I leave with my parents?
A: Players at all levels are required to stay and support our teams until the completion of all games in the Varsity Match. If it is a home game, players may leave with their parent/guardian when all games are complete and all equipment has been properly put away. If it is an away match, players must ride the bus back to the school where they may be picked up by their parent/guardian. Players will not be released to anyone other than a parent or legal guardian under any circumstances at any time, even in an emergency situation. In an emergency situation where a player may need to leave early, the parent must provide a handwritten note explaining that they will be taking their child for an emergency situation before the player will be released.

Q: May I listen to my iPOD or use my cell phone while the other teams are playing?
A: No. While other teams are playing it is important to show school pride by cheering on and supporting the other girls in the program. iPOD's and cell phones will be taken and returned only to the player's parent or legal guardian if you are found to be using one at any unauthorized time. Repeated offenses will result in disciplinary action. If you feel you need to make a call, you must ask your coach and may do so at your coach's discretion.
