Haggis upset predicted in playoffs
7/18/2008

The Haggis leaves for Austin, TX this weekend to take on the South Side Irish from Chicago.  We met the Irish in the DII playoffs several years ago and quickly put a stop to their championship aspirations.  Certainly they remember that and will be gunning for revenge.  Haggis will have to step up and play a physical and technical game.

Following the Irish, Haggis will most likely face the Glendale Raptors to earn a seed to the Big Four at the Glendale home pitch.  Glendale is a very fast, very fit team and the Haggis will have its hands full containing them.  Nobody beats Haggis at our best.  Nobody.

Erugbynews has picked the Haggis to upset Glendale.  All of their other predictions are for the #1 seed in each pool to advance.

Alex Goff opines:

"OK, so on to Pool B. Park City Haggis is going to hit South Side Irish hard and early, and then hand on hoping to rest folks.

Glendale should race around Long Island without much trouble. And while Glendale is the CR2 champions and Haggis was fourth in CR1, it won’t be a walkover. Glendale has a great shot to beat Haggis and they will do it with superior fitness. However, this is our upset special. If you want a team that bucks the seeding to make the semis, pick Haggis."

So far Goff has called our games right.  Let's prove him right.
