After a very productive town hall meeting on Monday evening the Hornell Dodgers board of directors has decided to field a team for the 2009 New York Collegiate Baseball League season.
The 2009 season will mark the 16th season of Dodger baseball. The process of hiring a coach and putting together the team will begin immeadiately.
Hornell Dodger general manager Paul Welker is excited about the 2009 season. "We had a very productive meeting. We had a good show of support and new ideas were discussed. The board of directors is confident that we can continue to field a team and work hard at reducing some of the debt we still carry before the season begins."
"We will need the continued support of our fans and sponsors to make things work in the future. We will also need to find new fans, sponsors, and revenue to ensure Dodger baseball continues."
Plans are underway for fundraisers and Dodger events during the offseason. The 2009 sponsorship packages will also be mailed out in early November.
