Dodgers Announce 2009 Coaching Staff
2/2/2009

The Hornell Dodgers are proud to announce the hiring of the 2009 coaching staff.  The '09 version of the blue and white will be coached by Chris Ebright and Alfred State College assistant coach Ryan Cavallaro.

Ebright is currently an assistant coach at Erie CC (Buffalo, NY).  Ebright has also spent time coaching at Earlham College and Alma College.  Other coaching experience includes: assistant coach for the Medicine Hat Mavericks of the Western Major Baseball League, head coach of the Wembley (Austrailia) Magpies 18-uner team, and varsity assistant coach at St. Louis High School.

Dodger general manager Paul Welker thinks Ebright is a great fit.  "Chris brings excitement to the position.  He comes highly recomended and I am sure he will be up to the challenge of being the head coach this summer.  He fits the mold of many of our past coaches."

Ebright was a catcher at Saginaw Valley State University between 1999-2002.  He was named SVSU rookie of the year in '99, SVSU defensive player of thet year in '01 and '02, and holds various hitting records.

After his playing career at Saginaw Valley ended, Ebright spent two summers playing in the Western Australia professional baseball league for the Vic Park Red and the Wembley Magpies.

Cavallaro recently completed his first year as the pitching coach at Alfred State.  He is responsible for all aspects of the pitching staff.

Cavallaro was one of the top pitchers in ASC history.  He finished his career with a perfect 13-0 record and a 3.44 ERA in 91.2 innings of work.  He was an All-Region selection in 2004 and the 2004 Alfred State College most valuable pitcher.  He finished his career with 82 strikeouts and 53 walks while holding opponents to a .246 batting average.

The Dodgers have made the NYCBL playoffs six of the past seven years and have won four NYCBL Championships.  The team will begin the quest for number five on June 11 when they travel to Elmira for a contest with the Pioneers.
