Former Dodgers Help Emporia State to National Championship Game 5/30/2009Former Hornell Dodgers Conner Crumbliss and Abe Steinbach helped the Emporia State College baseball team to the NCAA Division II National Championship game. The Hornets fell 2-1 to Lynn College in the championship game on Saturday.
Crumbliss started in all 63 games for the 49-14 for Emporia in centerfield. He led the team with a .397 (98 for 247) batting average. He collected 30 doubles, five triples, and five homeruns from the leadoff spot in the lineup. He drove in 54 runs and stole 30 bases in 32 attempts. On defense he made just one error in 124 attempts.
Crumbliss hit .253 (19 for 75) for the Dodgers in 2006. He collected five RBI and stole nine bases.
Steinbach saw action in 26 games for Emporia this spring. He hit .326 (15 for 46) with five doubles, a triple, a homer, and 10 RBI.
Last season in Hornell, Steinbach hit .239 (32 for 134) with seven doubles and 19 RBI.
The 2009 Hornell Dodger season opens up on June 11th when the blue and white travel to Elmira. The team opens up the home portion of their season on June 13th versus Bolivar.  |
