
Trey Bennett (Mercyhurst), Rich Brown (LeMoyne), and Andrew Jesse (St. Joseph's) will wear the Hornell Dodger blue and white for the second straight season. The trio was part of the 2008 squad that finished 34-13.
Bennett played in all 42 games last year for the Dodgers. He batted .268 with 24 RBI and tied for the team lead with two HRs. This year at Mercyhurst he batted .291 with three HRs and was second on the team in stolen bases with 9 in 11 tries. He helped the Lakers to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2000.
Brown batted .230 for the Dolphins in 2009 with six homeruns and 19 runs batted in, and was perfect in four stolen base attempts. On defense he had a .975 fielding percentage splitting time at catcher and first base. Last summer he played in 25 games last year and collected two doubles and three RBI.
Jesse returns to Hornell for a second season, he had the second highest batting average (.316) for the Dodgers last season. He also collected four doubles, two homers, and drove in 16 RBI while stealing eight bases. This spring he played in 29 of 52 games for the Pumas, batting .266 and a team leading three triples.
Dodger players will begin reporting next weekend as the team will take the field for the first time on June 11th in Elmira. The team opens up the home portion of their season on Saturday June 13 with a 7 p.m. contest versus Bolivar.
