Dodgers to take on Amsterdam

The 2009 New York Collegiate Baseball League Championship series will begin in Amsterdam, the Eastern Division champion, on Friday night.  Game #2 and #3 (if necessary) will be played in Hornell Saturday.

The Dodgers and Mohawks will meet for the 4th time in the NYCBL finals since 2002.  Hornell won the series in 2002 but fell in 2003 and 2004.

Hornell and Amsterdam have had similar paths to the championship series.  The Dodgers were 9-8 at a time and finished the regular season with a 30-12 record while the Mohawks were 8-8 at a time and also finished with a 30-12 record.

In the playoffs, Hornell swept Geneva and Alfred to reach the finals while Amsterdam swept Mohawk Valley and Glens Falls.

NYCBL Championship Schedule
Friday, August 7th: Hornell @ Amsterdam: 7 p.m.
Saturday, August 8th: Amsterdam @ Hornell 4 p.m./7 p.m. (if necessary)

The Dodgers will be looking to win the franchises 5th NYCBL Championship since its inception in 1994 while the Mohawks have won three.
