Welcome to the HRNABA Guestbook

Welcome to the HRNABA Guestbook.  This page is for general thoughts on the webpage, league questions, new player information and anything else you can put on the page.

The talent in the league has improved greatly over the inaugural season.  Over the last five years, the league has seen an increase in minor league ball players, current and former college stars, and numerous All state, regional and other honored ball players.  Skill level for the league is recreational to pro levels, so we encourage anyone interested to join a team and come spend your Sundays with HRNABA.

We are beginning the process of organizing the 2009 season.  Organizations or individuals looking to enter a team for the season, please leave information here and contact our head of player development, Dave Gresens, via phone 757 636-1054 or via email hrnabapd@yahoo.com

NEW PLAYERS
*Please read and post appropriately*

In order to try and maintain a competitive balance and a fair draft system for new players, this season we are trying a new system of signing players.  Tryouts are February 22nd(Time and Location TBD) and any player looking to join the league prior to that date will be directed to the tryouts.  Any information provided by new players will be removed from the page as soon as possible and forwarded to the head of player development.  This will allow new players to try out for prospective managers and build for a nice tryout class.  Due to this, all new player information through June of last year has been removed.

Do not take this as a reason not to post.  We want you to post so we can have information to contact you.  We're constantly on the lookout for new players and welcome any additions.  Please feel free to post, just be warned if you're a new player it will be removed hopefully before anyone but player development can see it.  The new system we're trying out is more labor intensive but hopefully it will allow for everyone to have an equal footing to start the season, both new players and established teams.

So to review, if interested in joining a team prior to February 22nd you will be directed to tryouts.  If any new players post information here or on our soon to be up again message boards, it will be immediately recorded and removed from the webpage, forwarded to player development.  Players will be contacted by email and/or phone to inform them of the current status of tryouts, location, and other information.  So if you post today and come back tomorrow looking for information and notice your post is gone, do not post again.  We got it and are dealing with it appropriately.

To everyone else, we love hearing what we're doing right or wrong.  Give us your suggestions, things you'd like to see on the site, or just your overall opinion of the site.  Help us make it as great for you as we feel it is for us.

Anything else, never hesitate to email me at lawrencebagwell@cox.net and I'll return email promptly.

Want to play
I'm new to the area. I just got here from training and I want to play ball. I played ball with the NABA Charlotte last year. I'm 5'11'', 170lbs. I throw right, bat switch. I was drafted as a utility player for my team, playing anywhere from catcher, third base, to outfield. I have friends interested in playing as well, any information I can give them would be greatly appreciated. Hope to hear from you soon.

Been a While!!
Hey Bags its good to see that you are still playing, I dont know if you remember me but I played with you in 03, 04 and 05 (2b and SS) I hit 12 homeruns in 04 and my average was well over .500 with the Angels and we won a lot of games together. I am thinking about trying to get back into the league next season if possible and was wondering how I would do that. I saw something about a draft? I have kept in good shape and have continued to play even if it was just fooling around. I am 6'2" and I weigh 210. If you know if anyone is interested please let me know. I can also play 1B as well as my other positions. Thanks in advance, Korey

Thanks to all and some basic info updates
Players who have posted here, we have your information and have either contacted you or tried placing you with teams or both.  If you havent been contacted, please repost your information.  We are nearing the last days of roster deadlines and teams may be needing specific positions or players.  So keep posting.

If you do not get signed this season, fret not.  Our season goes through September and usually into October due to weather and field availability.  But our next season often begins immediately afterward.  Teams actively recruit talent from our message boards.  Also, teams with a good core group of players will begin to go to the cages together and practice on the nice days we often get in the winter time.  So this is a good way to get in early with a team.  If unable to sign with a team in the offseason, we have a tryout and draft we hold in mid to late February with our season beginning towards the end of March.

And don't forget to add us as a friend on facebook

Again, thanks for the interest in the league.  If we couldnt get you placed with a team this season, our apologies, we'll get you on one ready to play for next year.

Next Years Team
I am currently deployed to Afghanistan, but next year I will return in April. Ive been playing baseball for 15 years, and I am a die hard catcher. I was wondering if there is any way I could play next year, even though I will be coming home past the Feb tryouts. Any and all information would be greatly apprieciated.
