Irish Play in Championship Game at Lenz Field
6/22/2009

After playing 3 pools games against three very decent teams including Team Victory, The Irish win their pool going undefeated. They advanced to the final four in a tournament filled with very talented teams.  The Irish faced the Indiana Bulls in the semi-final game and recieved great pitching from Casey Gore.  But the Bulls are one of the top teams in the state and they just wouldn't go away.   The Irish were up 2-1 when the Bulls showed why they had not lost a tournament this year by slamming 2 homeruns in the 4th inning.  With the Bulls now leading 5-2 the Irish didn't quit.  After watching their counterpart play longball twice in the 4th, they thought they would give it a try themselves when Paulie Milto and Jacob Hobson hit back to back homeruns to tie the game!  One out later Jordan Bare slammed one out of the park that almost hit the building located in centerfield to give the Irish the lead for good and also a chance to play the Nationally ranked team The Future from Chicago, IL.  The Irish came in on a high from beating a great team like the Bulls, but could have used more pitching instead.  With not much pitching left for the Championship game, the Irish fall to a great baseball team in the Future 9-1.  Great tournament at a great facility!!!  Playing on turf was a blast for the boys and they played like they belonged there!  The atmosphere was great and there was great talent to play against! Nice tournament Irish!!!
