Irish Toughness Shows in Southaven NABF World Classic 7/14/2009 The Indy Irish traveled to Southaven, Mississippi last week to compete in the NABF World Classic. The lone Indiana representative played outstanding baseball against some of the best teams from the South. This tournament featured several teams recognized by Travel Ball Select.
The Irish were 3-1 after pool play, with wins against the Arkansas Travelers 13-12, The Naturals 8-5 and Stinger Baseball 4-2, both of which are from Tennessee. The Irish lost their opening pool play game to the Memphis Tigers, but later returned the favor by knocking theTigers out of the tournament, coming from behind to win 6-4. The Irish then lost a heart breaker to the Tupelo Mississippi Rangers, as they were unable to hold onto a 5th inning lead. It was another Top 8 Finish for the Irish.
Recently, the Irish competed at the Cincinnati Flames Summer Classic. The Irish won their pool and advanced to the elimination round, where they were Seeded 8th out of the 44 participating teams. The Irish beat a quality team from Naperville, Illinois before falling to the eventual Tournament Champion, The Future, based out of Chicago.
