Taube Powers Panthers to Win over T-Birds

In Kitchener, Matt Taube drove in three runs with a pair of hits to lead the Kitchener Panthers past the Hamilton Thunderbirds 8-4. The Panthers scored four runs in the seventh inning and three more in the eighth to break open a close game and improve to 8-8, while the last place Thunderbirds slipped to 1-16. Justin Gianfrancesco also had two hits, scored three runs and drove in two more for the Panthers, while Justin Worby contributed two hits and an RBI. Matt Cockburn got the win, pitching seven strong innings. He allowed one run on four hits with five strikeouts and one walk, while Tyler Wilson came on to get the last four outs to get the save. Hamilton starter Paul McKenna was the loser, allowing five runs – four earned – on six hits with seven strikeouts and five walks over seven innings. Kyle Pegg finished up. Adam Durfee drove in two runs for the Thunderbirds, while Ryan Sharpe had two hits and scored a pair of runs.
