Lady Cougars win again

The Lady Cougars� Cinderella story continued Tuesday night with their 57-53 win over Basset, advancing them to the semifinals of the Region IV tournament where they will play yet again the regular season champs, the Hidden Valley Lady Titans.
�They played good defense against us,� head coach Jason Grubb said of Basset.
�We got into foul trouble early in the game, but overcame that in the end. We shot well from the free throw line and the floor tonight, but overall we played well,� Grubb added.
The game was close throughout as each team answered the other with buckets, but the Cougars managed to get a one-point lead going into the half at 22-21.
The third quarter saw the Cougars outscore their opponent 15-12, putting their lead at 37-33 going into the final quarter.
The last eight minutes saw each team score 20 points, which allowed the Lady Cougars to maintain the lead they had established early in the game.
The Lady Cougars were led by Raiven Patterson with 19 points, while fellow sophomore Kasey Holcomb had 15.
Bassett was led by Jennifer Blankenship who had 19 as well on the night with Kiki Via chipping in 16.
The Lady Cougars finished the night shooting 42 percent from the floor and 73 percent from the charity stripe giving them the necessary edge in the close contest.
The Cougars play their semifinal game against the Lady Titans at Carroll County High School tonight at 6 p.m. to decide who will compete for the Region IV title and advance to the state competition.
