Tryout Expectations

Since its inception the Boys soccer team at Lakeside has set a very high standard.  This includes four strait state final four appearances.  More than ever, there will be a lot of competition for a limited number of spots on the roster this year.  Players expecting to make the team should be in excellent physical condition prior to tryouts. This year we will have a one week voluntary speed, agility and fitness week on the week of January 18- 22.  The following week (January 25-29) there will be a voluntary pre-season camp run by one of the top coaches in the area.  Neither of these activities is mandatory, but each will help you to be prepared for tryouts.   Tryouts this year are February 1-4. .  Tryouts are mandatory.   In order to be considered for a spot on the team this year you will have to be able to pass a variety of fitness tests during the first few days of tryouts.  In addition there will be a variety of skill tests that you will need to pass during tryouts.  Players will not be allowed match time until they can pass the fitness tests, and doing well on the skills tests will go a long way in helping you become selected for the team.

Regardless of how you choose to train, you need to make the commitment to get yourself fit if you are to be considered for the team.  Playing with your club team is a great asset, but may not be enough on its own.  Here is a list of the expected fitness and skill tests that will be used.
