Rival Red Sox 08' All Stars sign on with Latin Flavor for 09' Season
Baseball Weekly - 1/3/2009
Once again in keeping with the All Star Holiday theme two more NYCMBL 08 All Stars sign on to join Latin Flavor Baseball for 09 Season. The division rival Red Sox (now known as the Marlins) lose two of their best 08' season players to the division rival Latin Flavor.
These 08' Red Sox all stars are team Cy Young RHP Jesus (Joey) Rosa and team MVP OF Wilfredo (Kike) Cruz.

Jesus (Joey) Rosa brings with him a 3.53 ERA in 8 games played 6 games started. He pitched 35.2 innings giving up 20 runs of which 14 were earned. In those innings pitched he gave up only 18 hits amassing an impressive 50K's. Joey also hit for a .441 avg in 34 at bats getting 15 hits while scoring 8 runs and driving in 7 for the Red Sox.

Joey will join a rotation that already includes 08' Cy Young award Winner Anthony (El Viejo) Cabrera along with 07' BK/QU MVP Frank (Ross) Rivera, 07' Cy Young candidate Fernando (Ferny) Olivero, and the intimidating lights out closer Jose (BJ) Rodriguez. And lets not forget RHP Jonathan Velazquez (08' Cy Young candidate) who is currently in Florida trying out for some MLB clubs. With all these pieces looks like the Flavor are putting together a formidable pitching staff which will only help them in their quest for another Championship Bid.

Coach Galan and Kike met in Brooklyn at a Cruz family function a while back after the season was over. While I was there I met many of Kike's family and friends. I was received well and treated as if I were already family. Everyone spoke of his passion and commitment to the game and that was all we spoke about....Baseball. It was at that time that I knew he was the type of player that I look for. A player of respect, passion and pride.

Wilfredo (Kike) Cruz joins the Flavor after hitting for a .373 avg in 26 games played for the Red Sox. He had 25 hits in 67 AB scoring 18 runs and driving in 11 runs in the process. Of the 25 hits 11 were doubles. He also brings with him some speed on the basepaths where he stole 15 bases, Kike is expected to add depth and stability to the Flavor OF.
