Flavor to get Physical with Baseball in 09' MLB Tonight - 3/1/2009Coach Galan has decided to take a different approach in getting back to Championship with his Latin Flavor team in the upcoming 09' season. "We are going to be a more physical team this year". With that in mind the Coach Galan and his Flavor has signed two players that are actual physical trainers in their current careers. The Flavor signs RHP Dave (Lip) Lipson (Spartan Performance Training) and OF/LHP Drew (Rock) Shamrock (Equinox Gyms) to contracts for the 09' Season.
Dave (Lip) Lipson a 6'1" 220lb RHP has played for University of Rhode Island (03'-05') where he tied for most wins by a starting pithcer in 03'. He's also played Minor League ball from 05' - 07' where he played for such teams as Lancaster Barnstormers, Nashua Pride, and the Sussex Skyhawks just to name a few. He is president of Spartan Performance Training NY...a company he put together himself that takes health and athleticism to new heights.
Drew (Rock) Shamrock a 6' 205lb OF/LHP native of Cincinnati Ohio and friend of Flavor 3B Mike (Blanquito) Gulker, currently works as a physical trainer for Equinox Gyms in Manhattan. Drew has played 3 years for Dennison University and his senior year at College of Charleston. He's made it to Super Regionals with Charleston and was named 1st team All American in 04 while at Denison.
Coach Galan is quoted as saying "In baseball if you have strong pitching, good defense and timely hitting you will win games. With Lip and Rock added to our rotation, we will have the pitching. We already had a good defense, now if the timely hitting comes through I fully expect us to compete for the Championship once again."
