Loyola Wins Rumble in Richmond

In a snow filled weekend in Richmond, Virginia, the Greyhounds took home the Rumble in Richmond Tournament Title, hosted by the University of Richmond. On Friday night, the Greyhounds revenged an October overtime loss to Colonial division foe George Washington, winning 8-3. On Saturday night, Loyola edged Catholic 6-5 in Overtime behind Sophomore Phil Fusco's Game Winning Goal. Loyola completed the weekend sweep with a win over the University of Richmond 8-1. Sophomore Rob Summerlin was named Top Forward of the Tournament and 3 different Loyola goaltenders (Steve McGirr, Jon Krober, and Kevin Lindberg) all recorded wins in the Greyhounds' victories. Loyola moves to 23-3-0-1 on the season and 11-0-0-1 in the Blue Ridge Colonial Divison. Next weekend the Greyhounds close up the Final Ranking period with an away game vs. Catholic on Friday and the BRHC Colonial Finale vs. Old Dominion at Ice World on Saturday. 

Hounds Continue Win Streak

The Greyhounds capped a successful weekend in Virginia Beach taking both BRHC Colonial League games from division foes Christopher Newport and Old Dominion. The Hounds beat Christopher Newport 2-1 on Friday night behind a brillant effort from Senior Goaltender Steve McGirr. The Hounds prevailed in this scrappy and hard hitting affair. Saturday night Loyola beat Old Dominion 6-2 for the team's 20th win of the season. Freshmen Goaltender Jon Krober registered his first win as a Greyhound and Freshmen Alec Schappert registered his first career goal. After the weekend, the Hounds improve to 20-3-0-1 overall and retain 1st place of the BRHC Colonial Division with a 9-0-0-1 record. Next weekend, the Greyhounds travel to Richmond, Virginia next weekend to battle in the Rumble in Richmond Tournament with scheduled games against George Washington, Catholic, and Richmond.
