Andy Wozniak and the Impact are off to a 3-0 start Impact Rookies lead the way over defending champs. 6/6/2008The Muskego Impact made a huge statement to the rest of the Eastern division on Wednesday night, knocking off the defending champion Butler Dunns 9-2. The win, believed to be the first over Butler since 2001, moved the Impact to 3-0 on the season and kept them tied with West Allis atop the standings.
The Impact were paced by P David Mihlsimmer(1-0), who pitched a complete game to pick up his first Impact victory. Mihlsimmer breezed through the first 3 innings, and was able to to get out of several jams the rest of the way to get the victory. Mihlsimmer was aided by a solid error-free defense that was able to come with big plays late in the game.
Offensively, the club was lead by rookie catcher Josh Beatka, who hit two HR's in the victory. The first, a 2-run shot in the 4th, went off the left fielders glove and over the fence for the team's first round tripper of the year. Later, Beatka would hit a no-doubter in the 8th to answer a small Butler run in the top half of the inning. Shortstop Casey Lyman also had a couple of hits and 2 runs scored.
Muskego's 3-0 start is the best in franchise history. Up next for the Impact is a doubleheader at home against the Franklin Snappers, whom the Impact have never lost to. Franklin is 0-2 this season, falling in a doubleheader against the West Allis Nighthawks by the scores of 10-2 and 9-2. |
