Determined for a playoff appearance. 2008 Season Preview 6/9/2008The 2008 edition of the Muskego Impact looks to be the strongest the team has had since the revival of the franchise in the mid 90's. After a disappointing 2007 season, the Impact added several young talented players. Those newcomers include Josh Beatka, Casey Lyman, David Milshimmer, George Simons, Michael Norman, and Adam Kozicki. Veteran Andy Wozniak is also making a comeback this year. With the mix of young talent and veteran leadership, Muskego looks to be a contender in the Land O'Lakes Eastern Division.
The team's biggest strength would be a talented and deep pitching staff, lead by standouts Bob Dillon, Brian Prusinski, and Dan Croak. Newcomer, David Mihlsimmer, looks to be a great addition to the staff. As the saying goes, pitching wins championships...
In 2008, the offense will look to rebound from a season plagued by a lack of consistent clutch hitting and an abundance of base running mistakes. In 2008, the lineup will be more balanced as the Impact have added several key hitters to the lineup. The lineup will be lead by Team Captain 2B Joe Kooping, C Josh Beatka, 3B Nick Blanchet, and C/DH Andy Liss.
Defensively, the Impact return a number of players from last year. Chad Henneberry, Ryan Kotowski, Justin Gross, and Andrew Berry are all returning outfielders. The infield returns Nick Blanchet, Joe Kooping, Bob Dillon, Andy Liss and Chris Stamborski. Newcomers Lyman, Simons, Norman, Beatka, and Mihlsimmer add depth to the infield. Kozicki and Wozniak add depth to the outfield.
Manager Rick Henneberry's biggest objectives include: 1) getting all the pitchers into their proper roles and finding enough innings for each to stay happy and sharp 2) finding ways for the offense to score runs without giving up outs early in games and 3) eliminating let down's against teams the Impact should beat.
One year removed from a 5th place finish, the Impact aim to contend for the Eastern Division title. The nucleus of the team has been together several seasons, and the young-talented newcomers should be enough to push this team over the edge. 2008 IMPACT BASEBALL...winning baseball!
