Fields Finalized, Season 1 week away
3/25/2008

The Bulldogs have almost finalized their 2008 schedule, securing fields within Essex and Middlesex Counties. The team will open their 2008 campaign hosting the Essex Bellnuts at William Warren Park in Woodbridge. The club is happy with their schedule, which is accommodating to all members of the club. Early season action has the Bulldogs facing the Jersey Twins at Raritan Waterfront Bay on 4/13, A double header against the defending Mel Ott Champion Essex Bulls on 4/20 at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield, and then a 4/27 matchup against the Jersey Barons at Warren Park.

The Bulldogs management and players would like to thank Middlesex Recreation Dept for finding the dogs a home within the county, and we look forward to a continuing relationship with the parks department from 2008 and on. For those keeping score at home, Bulldogs will host 10 games on Middlesex turf this spring.

The 2008 Spring schedule has placed the dogs in the southern division, with some stiff competition from the Red Sox, Clippers, Twins and Bellnuts. The toughest opponent has to be deemed the Hunterdon Red Sox, who were undefeated champs in the metal ABA last fall. They carry a lineup of quick powerful bats that the Bulldog pitching will have to keep quiet in order to win those games.

With the strong core of pitching the club has signed this offseason, and the additions of catchers James O’Hanlon and Matthew Mazzolla, the Bulldogs have set their early season goal to go 5-0 in April, which should set the table for the club for the rest of the season.

Players Tim Ritchie, Dave Markow, Bret Santucci, Mike Mazzolla, James O’Hanlon and Brad Homry took advantage of Good Friday, and hit outdoors for the first time this spring. A pretty good showing all around, with an early glimpse of new bats provided by OHanlon and Homry.

BULLDOG NATION, GET PUMPED FOR THE 2008 SEASON!
