About the NYCMBL
History:
The New York City Metro Baseball League (NYCMBL) was formed in November 2005 after years of playing in an adult amateur baseball league in the New York Metropolitan area with no clear community pride or educational purpose. Three young professionals formed the NYCMBL because of their passion for the game of baseball, their passion to giving back to their communities, and their dedication to educating the youth. They wanted to continue to play the game and provide young adults in the New York City Metropolitan area the same opportunity to play in a well organized league; in a league that prides itself on fostering educational and leadership development, while giving back to the communities in the New York City Metropolitan area.
Mission:
The NYCMBL is dedicated to bringing communities together through the game of baseball. The NYCMBL provides adult amateur baseball players the ability to play the game they love throughout the New York City Metropolitan Area, while engaging these communities through leadership, youth mentorship & partnerships. The NYCMBL strives to develop a unified bond by promoting the passion for competitive baseball with the desire for community engagement and service. The NYCMBL strives to be more than just another baseball league. The NYCMBL invisions the league to be a forum for education and development for its participants and affiliations. The NYCMBL has set a higher standard for what baseball is all about. Baseball is more than just a game; rather it is an opportunity to learn and develop.
Future:
The New York City Metro Baseball League has evolved into a 501c3 non profit organization continuing to provide the New York City Metropolitan community an affordable, coordinated, and safe environment for all adults interested in playing baseball. It hopes to bring the New York City Metropolitan community together in the common interest of baseball. Different cultures and backgrounds will unite for the game of baseball in hopes of developing a commonality that will be recognizable by every community through their participation with the NYCMBL. In addition, The NYCMBL will further promote educational development through partnering with youth organizations to offer baseball clinics and tutoring and mentoring programs. The NYCMBL will also promote leadership development to their participants and league members by providing an outlet for the participants to engage in baseball activity and be a positive influence in their communities.
