Warriors win Brooklyn/Queens division; will face Marlins for Championship! 9/13/2009 The Williamsburg Warriors defeated the Elmjack Blue Jays in game 3 of the Brooklyn/Queens division series to advance to the NYCMBL championship. The hard-fought 1-0 victory was headlined by the gutsy performance of starter Greg Daniec (pictured right) who threw 6 pain-ridden scoreless innings. Jerry Taveras drove in the game's only run with a 2nd inning single that scored the streaking Jeffrey Lagares. Carl Weber came on in relief to send the Warriors to "the Chip". The other star of the show was....the Warrior defense. Consistent and stellar play from the entire Warrior defense was a major contributing factor to the division-clinching nail-biter. The Warriors will face the Manhattan/Bronx champion Forest Hills Marlins for all the marbles. |
