Kelley serves up political heat in new book Biff Tannenbaum - 5/10/2009Any hitter in the NYCMBL who has had the opportunity to dig in against Mud Hens’ pitcher Brian Kelley has learned full well that the big-bodied right-hander has a knack for lighting up the radar gun.
But when he’s not mowing down hitters, Kelley continues to hurl fastballs—albeit of a more political nature. Brinker Publishing has announced that on May 25, Kelley will release his second book, titled “In This Economy? How to Paint the Black . . . When Your Company is in the Red.”
“It’s basically a call for a return to what I call ‘bootstrap optimism’,” explains the author. “I’ve been sensing that we’ve drifted away from that ‘can-do’ entrepreneurial attitude that made America great in the first place. And I think we need to fight back.”
Kelley first gained national attention for his unique political views after launching the now famous DoggonePonyShow.com, which has been championed by such conservative politicos such as Sean Hannity and former rock-and-roller Ted Nugent.
“He’s a fresh new voice on the American landscape,” said Hannity in October 2008. “[Kelley] is responsible for turning the youth of America onto what we believe to be the core conservative values.”
Others have been less than glowing in their assessment of Kelley’s work however.
the 22 year-old’s first book, “Changing Speeds”, was blasted as “Uninformed . . . anti-liberal tripe of the worst kind,” by MSNBC’s Keith Olberman—though several similar reviews did little to slow sales as the 427-page book quickly became a National Best Seller.
“I don’t measure success by the money I make or the number of books I sell,” says Kelley. “If I can get the word out, spread my ideas . . . that’s the real reward.” |
