LATEST FUNDRAISING NEWS:

The Oakville Speed Skating Club will be holding its Annual Fundraising Skate-A-Thon on: January 24,2008.

All skaters will skate a maximum of 100 Laps.  Funds raised will be used for Club Events.  The Club has forms available or you can click here to download the form yourself.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 members who Fundraise the most.  All prizes have been donated by
an anonymous donor.

First Place: Choice of 3 Raptor Tickets (Several dates to select from) or Bratz Toy Package or $30.00 Best Buy Gift Certificate

Second Place: Choice of Remaining Two Items

Please make every effort to secure many sponsors and Support Your Club!!!


FUNDRAISING INFORMATION - WHERE THE MONEY GOES:

In order to assist in keeping our programs affordable, registration and skate rental fees are put towards covering our ever increasing ice costs.

Money raised through fundraising helps to cover cost incurred by the Club:
  • Achievements – Trophies, Awards, and Medallions
  • Parties and Presents – at Christmas and end of Season
    Celebratory Cakes – for members who enter our "Sub Club"
  • Equipment for general members use- jigs, sharpening stones, tools, blade bender, track markers, stop watches, lap counters, extra skater equipment, Club racing helmets, first aid supplies, etc., etc.
  • Contribution toward out of pocket expenses of entirely volunteer Coaches attending out of town meets
  • Costs of OSSA Club membership, insurance, general office supplies, annual web site fees, Christmas gifts for arena staff, etc.,


FUNDRAISING PROGRAMS - HOW WE RAISE FUNDS:

There are 3 main ways that the Oakville Speed Skating Club Fundraises:

  • Safety Mat Sponsorship Program
  • Poinsettia Fundraiser
  • Skate-A-Thon

OUR SAFETY MAT SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM (YEAR ROUND):

Companies can sponsor a safety mat, their name and logo will be printed on the mat to acknowledge their contribution and advertise their company.  The mats last many years and are always visible during practices and race meets.  For more information about this program, click here.


POINSETTIA FUNDRAISER (ANNUALLY EVERY NOVEMBER):

Every November we have our Poinsettia Sale.  Members are encouraged to purchase beautiful Poinsettia plants.  The Club receives a percentage of the money.


SKATE-A-THON (ANNUALLY EVERY JANUARY):

Every January we hold our Annual Skate-A-Thon.  Member skate up to 100 laps or 6.9 miles and secure sponsors to donate a certain amount per lap.  Club members have a chance to win certain prizes for the most funds collected with the prizes being donated by an anonymous donor.  Click here to view our Skate-A Thon sheet.
