Pacman invited as guest cager

MANNY Pacquiao, who is an accomplished basketball player and has his own team competing in tournaments at home, was invited as a guest player in the final game of the Grand Reunion Tour of Philippine Basketball Association basketball greats in the United States this March.

Abe King, the chairman of the PBA Legends USA Foundation, invited Pacquiao to play in the final game of the four-city tour to be held at the San Diego State University Peterson Gymnasium on March 16 at 4 p.m.

In a letter addressed to Pacquiao, King noted that the final game of the series would be one day after Pacquiao’s rematch with World Boxing Council super-featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez at the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

In his letter, King wrote Pacquiao: “We profoundly wish you the best in your fight against Juan Manuel Marquez. We will pray for you as always.”

The PBA Legends USA chairman noted that the four-game series will feature former PBA superstars including the “Living Legend” Robert Jaworski, “El Presidente” Ramon Fernandez, Allan Caidic, Alvin Patrimonio, Samboy Lim, Philip Cezar, Atoy Co, Jerry Codiñera, Manny Victorino, Jojo Lastimosa, Hector Calma, Vergel Meneses and many others.

Among the former PBA superstars now living in the US, who will play in the series of games in Union City, Sacramento, Los Angeles and San Diego are Francis Arnaiz, Abet Guidaben, Yoyoy Villamin, Bernard Fabiosa, Ricardo Brown, Onchie de la Cruz, Danny Florencio and Romy de la Rosa, among others.
