About the PBL Washington

The PBL Washington is a community of athletes who find escape and enjoyment through basketball in an arena of competition among their brothers to test their skills and more importantly, their passion. In other words, the PBL is a league of amateurs who simply want to continue playing basketball.

OBJECTIVE: We aim to promote: (a) health and team spirit among basketball enthusiasts; (b) fair play and distinguish those who take an active positive role in the enjoyment of basketball.

TEAM AWARDS: Winning teams will receive a trophy respective to their appropriate placement. Members of the championship team will be awarded first place medals. There will be special awards for individuals who excel in their position.

TEAM CAPTAINS: Each team must assign a captain who will be the official recipient of all information related to the league and will be responsible for relaying them to the players. (e.g. schedule, scores, gym locations, etc.)

DIVISION PLACEMENT: The Committee has the right to place a team in a lower or higher division than what the team originally applied for. Division placement is final after the third game of the season.

TEAM LINE UP: 8 - 12 Players per team

REPLACEMENT / ADDITIONAL PLAYERS: The committee shall have the right to replace and/or add player[s] to any team if needed. Lineups are final and complete after the third game. There will be no more replacement/additional player after the 3rd. game.Violation of this rule received an automatic loss.


WAIVER: Along with application form, each player must sign a waiver form or online waiver releasing the organizers, players, referees, timers, scorekeepers, and anybody involved in the league from any liability in case of an injury or health problems resulting from game related accidents. No player or game official will be allowed to play until he signs the waiver.


GAME RULES:

Length of game:
 
22 minutes per half [running time] Stop time at the last two minutes of the second half.
Over Time: 2 minutes of play. No time out allowed. Stop time. If tie continues, additional overtime period of 2 minutes is allotted until a winner is determined

Timeouts:

2 timeouts per half [no carry over]. Stop time is 30 seconds.
Personal Fouls: Five personal fouls per player.
Technical Fouls will be assessed as personal fouls and two points plus ball possession will be awarded to the opposing team.
A technical foul shall be called also for any player wearing an incomplete uniform.
One and One Penalty Shot on the seventh team foul and Two penalty shots on the tenth team foul.


Forfeitures:


Teams who added a new player after the 3rd game.
Teams not ready by game time [with 10 minutes grace period.]
Teams failing to field at least 4 players for opening tip-off.
Teams with less than four players left on the court during a game.
Ten Minute Grace Period: During the grace period, one (1) point per minute will be awarded to the team that is ready to play. The team not ready to play after 10-minute grace period forfeits the game. If the team is ready to play before the 10-minute grace period expires, game time begins at the point when both teams are ready to time.


Any player using profane, vulgar language and/or gesture at any time will be removed from the game.
AUTOMATIC EJECTION AND/OR ONE GAME SUSPENSION to any player[s] who:
Receives two technical fouls in a game.
Intentionally pushes, shoves, strikes or threaten to strike an official, opposing player or spectator.
Commits a flagrant foul.The committee reserves the right to investigate any incident related to the rules above and to impose suspension to any player[s] found guilty of improper or unsportsmanlike conduct.
Protests will only be heard and become official after the team captain files a formal protest [in writing] and submits it to the committee within 24 hours after the complaint.


PLAYOFF: There are 10 to 12 Teams in Each Division. Only 8 Teams will make the Playoff.

 

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY:


Open Division:
A player must be male, No age or height limits. Competition.
 

Women’s Division:
A player must be female, no age or height limits.
 

Class A Division:
A player must be of Male and 6 feet 7 inches and lower, regardless of age and height. Competition.
 

Class B Division:
A player must be male and 6 feet 6 inches and lower, regardless of age. 
 

Class C Division:
 Class C West:
A player must be male, No age or height limits.

Class C East: A player must be Male and 6 feet 4 inches and lower, regardless of age.
 

Class D and E Division:
A player must be 6 feet 3 inches and lower, regardless of age.
 

Class F, G, H Division:
A player must be 6 feet 2 inches and under for Class F, 6 feet 1 inches and under for Class G and Class H, at least 15 years of age, No Class A, B and Open player, low caliber.
 

Masters Division:
A player must be Male and 35 years old and over.
 

TEAM CAPTAINS:
Each team must assign a team captain who will be the official recipient of all information related to the league and will be responsible for relaying them to the players. The team has the option to elect the team captain to act as a team coach or appoint a different individual to act as team coach.
