Phantoms

The Phantoms originally began as the Dragons during the Fall/Winter 2004/2005 season with Laura taking over as captain after playing with the Spiders.  With a handful of Spiders players and a handful of new players the Dragons turned out to be a pretty good team.  After going to the Championship game they claimed the 2nd place spot in the Bronze league.

After the usual turnover and some new jerseys they became Red Rum in the Summer 2005 & Fall/Winter 2005/2006 seasons.  To confuse everyone and prevent boredom the team then became the Phantoms in the Summer 2006 season.

Finishing 5th out of 8 teams the team managed to pull off 2 huge upsets in the playoffs knocking out the 1st and 3rd place seeded teams (GFP & Frozen Rods respectively) to make it to the championship game vs. #2 Dakine.  Having never beat Dakine during the regular season, the team stayed true and lost - finishing in 2nd place.  We were just surprised we even made it there.

So here we are at the start of the Fall/Winter 2006/2007 season, as the Phantoms, and since we now have a maybe quasi-logo, we'll probably stay the Phantoms.  (Not true!  See below...)

We got knocked out of the Fall/Winter 2006/2007 playoffs the week before the final game by none other than the Volcanoes after giving up a 3-goal lead with only 4 minutes left!  That was frustrating to say the least but the Ice Dawgs had a go at them and lost as well.

Come Summer 2007 we ended 2nd in the league with a 13-3 record behind the Volcanoes.  Our hard work finally paid off and we were able to shut them out 2-0 for the victory.

Summer 2007 - Finally!

We finished the Fall 2007/2008 in less than desirable 4th place.  With season-long goaltending problems and inconsistency with the roster (while we had rotating goalies) it was hard to find a groove.  The growing BHL has caused a league split and creation of the Silver B league which was supposed to be made up of the top 6 BHL teams.  That has not worked out perfectly however because the new night, Fridays, made us lose about 2/3 of our regular roster.  The Kodiaks were in the same boat so we joined forces becoming the Phantiaks for this season.

Phantiaks

The Summer 2008 season was less than stellar record-wise.  We ended the season 5-11 in 6th place (out of 7 teams).  In the playoff qualifier game we lost to the 7th place Volcanoes and that win was only their 2nd of the entire season, having just gotten their first regular season win days before in the last game of the season.  Then we played them, again, in our consolation game and lost, again.  The season ended on an unfulfilling note as far as wins (or lack thereof) go.  Moving on to the Winter 2008/2009 season with some new (but old) faces and another new name, the Misfits.

Misfits

The season started off a little bumpy while we went through the adjustment period with some new players just like most teams do.  The last few weeks of the season we started to pull it together and were able to get some big wins against some tough teams.  Similar to the Summer season in 2006 we ended 5th place out of 8 teams and, again, pulled off some upsets in the playoffs this time beating #4 Norcal Crossover A and #2 Flying wizards to meet with #1 Pints, "the" team to beat the entire season having just 1 regulation loss (2 OT losses) and ending with 42 points in the standings, twice as many as our 21 points.  We played them 4 times during the regular season and went 0-4, the last 2 games being blowouts of 8-0 and 6-0.  We knew we had our work cut out for us as the Pints were a very solid, competitive team.  We came out strong to get 2 quick goals and led on the scoreboard for the entire game with a final score of 6-4.  So we pulled off another upset in a big way to win the championship game for the Winter 2008/2009 season and will be the defending champs heading in Summer 2009 season.

Winter 2008/2009

Hey whaddya know, we won again!  For Summer 2009 we finished in 2nd place with a record of 10-3-1 with 21 points.  We faced the Pirates in the 1st round after they won their qualifying game.  We were able to shut them out 3-0 in order to advance to the next round.  We then faced the Flying Wizards (again in the 2nd round) and were able to beat them (again) 4-2.  This brought us to the match-up of all match-ups with the Ice Dawgs (who finished 6th in the regular season, beating Norcal and the Rough Riders to advance) in the final round.  This was not their first appearance in the championship game having played previously for the BHL Cup.  It was a close game but we came out on top with a 3-1 win.  It would be Dawgs30 Chairez's last Skatetown game before his move to Las Vegas.  Fortunately for all of the Skatetown patrons they will get to see our picture, again, on the cup for another 8 months or so.
