Game Summary Hogs get by the goons

JANUARY 20, 2008 - In a Sunday night that featured all kinds of goonery, it was a team of girls and guys who took the physical play to the Hogs. But, it was the Puck Hogs who would leave this game with a win, on a four-goal second period explosion, to take the game 5-2. This wasn't going to be a defensive showpiece of a game for the Hogs, who would end the game giving up 32 shots on goal, though still outshooting APL by a fair margin. However, it was APL to score first, going up 1-0 within the first two minutes of the game.
The lead didn't last long. The Hogs tied the game up four minutes later as league pointgetter Vince Jones popped in a rebound the game was tied at one. One APL punch and later crosscheck to the throat later, the game was tied going into the second period.
While the first period was filled with miscalled penalties, the second was filled with goals. The Hogs continued to play hockey while APL played roller derby, and the Hogs jumped up to a comfortable 5-1 lead.
The third period was rather uneventful, though APL was able to double their goals total to come within three goals of the Hogs. But, it wasn't enough and the final buzzer solidified the Hogs' hold on first place in the standings.
