 2009 Canada Day 'Old Timers' vs. Grizzlies 7/1/2009(Pemberton) - The 2nd annual Canada Day 'Old Timers' vs. Grizzlies baseball game was a fun-filled evening tilt under the lights at the Ball Park at Signal Hill.
The 'Old Timers' jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but soon saw the younger Grizzlies pounce back with some hot bats midway through the second frame. Kurt Pipe, Nathan Fowler, and Ryan Gobert all contributed to the Grizzlies offensive attack.
The 'Old Timers' clawed back in the third with Judith Mackenzie leading the way with 3 RBI.Take Fukada, Todd Williamson, and Dan McGuire all provided offensive support.
But ultimately the young Grizzlies proved to much for the 'Old Timers' this year with a final score of 22-15.
For the 'Old Timers' Dan McGuire was voted MVP for an outstanding pitching performance. His off-speed pitches and fastball kept the greybeards in it for much of the game.
The young Grizzlies MVP was shared by Kurt Pipe & Nathan Fowler who both had clutch hits in the latter part of the game to seal the deal for the Grizzlies.  |
