2009/2010 Sewanee Men’s Rugby Club Membership Agreement

I, …………………………………………………………………… agree I will be bound by the terms of this agreement for as long as I remain an active, dues-paying member of the Sewanee, University of the South Men’s Rugby Club (“Sewanee Rugby”).

1. I will ensure my academic studies take priority over all other college activities. I will manage my study time appropriately to allow for the maximum participation in all Sewanee Rugby practices and games, both at home and away.
2. I agree that signing the University Honor Code applies also to my activities with Sewanee Rugby.
3. I agree to abide by all decisions made by the student officers and the coach on behalf of Sewanee Rugby, the MidSouth Union, USA Rugby South and the USA Rugby governing body.
4. I will do everything possible to make sure any fraternity or other extra curricular activities do not interfere with my role as a member of Sewanee Rugby.
5. I recognize that Sewanee Rugby is a major championship rugby club and requires my full participation in ensuring Sewanee Rugby continues this success.
6. I also recognize Sewanee Rugby has the reputation for good, clean rugby and fair play, and I will play my part, on and off the field, to maintain this reputation.
7. I understand my actions as a rugby player reflect on all those associated with Sewanee Rugby, the Sewanee Old Boys, the University and the Alumni.
8. I will take personal responsibility for all my activities with Sewanee Rugby. I will attend all practices, training, conditioning and games, unless prevented only by academic related activities, when I will provide the coach with ample prior notice.

9.        I will support all my fellow players. I will play the game of rugby to the best of my ability. I will demonstrate honest, fair sportsmanship to my opponents. I will be courteous to match officials. I will not indulge in illegal, abusive or dangerous play, no matter how provoked. I will be modest in victory and gracious in defeat. I will always do the right thing.

10.     I will take an active role in all organizational activities including, but not limited to, helping with field and equipment management, cleaning up after home and away games, helping club officers in their duties, assisting in the organizing and management of post-match festivities and any other tasks I may be directed to undertake.

11. I will not take any performance enhancing drugs.

12.     I will safeguard my health and fitness. I will eat a well balanced diet that will help enhance my fitness and strength. I will not indulge in alcohol or other mind-altering substances 24 hours before any practice or game.

13.     I will purchase my rugby kit as required and maintain it in a clean and professional manner.

14.     I will pay my club dues in a timely manner.

15.     I confirm I have fully comprehensive medical health insurance and can provide evidence of such.

16.     I agree that Sewanee Rugby, its student officers, coach, faculty advisor, the University of the South and its officers, faculty, staff and agents will not be held responsible in the event I sustain any injury, directly or indirectly, as a result of my activities with Sewanee Rugby.

17.     I agree I will take full advantage of the Sewanee Rugby experience to help make the sport a major game in the USA. I will treat everyone associated with game with respect and enjoy its unrivaled camaraderie. Most of all, I will hold the honor of Sewanee Rugby at the highest possible level.
