Billikens Sweep Northern Illinois University
10/28/2009
After playing three tough Division 1 games on the road, the Billikens returned home to Webster Groves Ice Arena for a weekend series against the Huskies from NIU. On Friday, a great performance from Johnny Moore, who had three goals, helped propel the Bills to a 9-4 victory. Also helping the offense was Andrew Wiltz with two goals. Sophomore Phil Jodko scored his first goal in a Billiken uniform. On Saturday afternoon, the Huskies held the Bills to no goals in the 1st period. However, SLU eventually broke out for six goals in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Blake Busse and Andrew Wiltz had two goals each and Phil Blackwood dished out four assists. Trey Spiller started his first game of the season in goal and provided a solid backstop for the Billikens, only allowing one goal. Freshman Aaron Alexander also entered his first game in goal late in the 3rd period. The weekend was a success for the Billkens who have this coming weekend off due to midterm exams and fall break. They return from break and will host the Missouri State Bears on Friday October 23rd at 8 PM and Saturday afternoon the 24th at Webster Groves Ice Arena. If you haven't had a chance to see the Billikens play, the weekend should be a good chance to see some great hockey!
