Mission Statement

Starting 5ive mission is to:

  •          Provide youth with organized competition in a safe environment for disadvantage
  •      Bring our youth closer together through common interest in sportsmanship and competition
  •             Instill educational, moral and ethical values
  •            Give athletes the opportunity to improve flexibility, mobility, speed, agility, and mobility, thereby,   reducing the risk of sports-related injuries.
  •      Acquaint the players with the fundamentals of the game rules; running, dribbling, and shooting
  •            Teach sportsmanship, discipline, pride, determination and love of the game
  •       Encourage the players to maintain satisfactory grades in school and to emphasize the importance of keeping a proper relationship and balance between scholastic and athletic endeavors

Through the game of basketball, we aspire to build cross-cultural solidarity; thereby equipping our young boys with the knowledge, spirituality, and skills needed to become trustworthy men that are positive contributors to their families and of our society.

Vision Statement

 STARTING 5IVE BASKETBALL CLUB’S goal is to advance its mission to operate a sports program for young male athletes of all different abilities and walks of life to develop their overall skills and increase their self-confidence by creating an environment where they can learn, grow, improve individual skills, develop character and compete against the best athletes in the region and nation, while balancing the needs and responsibilities of family, school and community.  Our purpose also provides a program that initiates, stimulates, and improves opportunities for amateur basketball competition, while promoting and developing leadership, sportsmanship, fitness, and the athletic excellence needed to perform at the collegiate level.   

Our Philosophies

Positive Coaching – We believe that winning is more than the score at the end of the game. It begins with an attitude of caring and understanding. We encourage our coaches, referees, and parents to make an extra effort to offer positive help and encouragement to our players, rather than negative criticism


Everyone Plays – Our goal is for everyone to have fun playing.  We want all of our players to have opportunity to do so.  Although there is no guarantee of how much playing time a player will receive, coaches strive to play every hardworking and dedicated player.

Good Sportsmanship–We desire to create a healthy, competitive environment based on Christian values, rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude.  Our program is designed and intended to instill good sportsmanship into every facet of S5.
