10/16/2009H1N1 Flu Precautions

Due to the seriousness of H1N1 influenza, the ORA has asked that all coaches follow the following guidelines to help reduce the likelihood of players spreading this and any other viruses:

Players are asked to to tap gloves with other players and not to shake hands directly.

All players must have their own designated water bottles and bottles are not to be shared.

10/3/2009Equipment

The following equipment is mandatory for all players:

helmet and face mask
neck protector
shoulder pads
elbow pads
protective gloves
hip/tailbone/genital protection*
knee pads
skates (no picks)
ringette stick
goalie equipment - goal pads, chest protector, goal stick

*At this time players can choose to wear jill, hockey pants and socks or girdle and pants. IN THE 2010-2011 SEASON ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR GIRDLE AND PANTS. If a player needs to purchase new equipment this year, we recommend that they switch to the girdle/pant.

Mouthguards are not mandatory, but we highly recommend that players use them.

10/3/2009Helmet Use

For safety reasons, all persons are required to wear a CSA approved helmet with facemask at all times that they are on the ice - this includes all players, coaches, and any helpers that may be on the ice.
