WCC Fall Home Opener 9/24/2009Sundays game against UNC-Charlotte was washed out by overnight rains making the infield too soggy to play.
The morning sun came up to reveal overnight rains had erased any chance of the WCC WILDCATS of playing the 3rd game of the series with UNC-C. With 2 separate storm fronts approaching and no chance of sunshine and heat to dry the overnight precipitation, the decision was made to cancel the game.
WCC will travel to Charlotte in the spring to play UNC-C on a date to be determined. Check the master spring schedule for updates as they come available
Wytheville CC Baseball Team opened its fall season with an 8-4 win in game #1 behind a strong 5 inning pitching performance of RH Chandis Goff.
The WILDCAT bats came alive with Josh Farmer supplying the teams first 2 RBI's, and Steven Brown launched a 2 run Bomb over the left center field fence to give Chandis all the runs he would need to notch the first victory. Jacob Miller added 2 RBI's with a 6th inning triple down the right field line.
In the second game, Jarred Sells pitched 5 solid innings holding UNC-Charlotte to 1 hit, before giving way to relief with the game tied 1-1. After a shakey 6th inning, LHP TIm Mallicoat, was able to right himself for a solid 7th inning. Game 2 ended with the WILDCATS on the short end of a 8-1 score.
Sunday's game #3 against UNC-Charlotte Club Team will be a 9 inning contest, first pitch at 1 PM. Josh Farmer will get the start on the hill for the the WILDCATS.  |
