SELECTS WIN - Aug. 14
The Windsor Junior Selects opened the Canadian Junior Baseball Championship with an 8-5 win over the Manitoba champs from Winnipeg Thursday in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Left-hander Dane Little got the win by going 61/3 innings and allowed just two earned runs while Cody Seremack got the final two outs to save it for the Ontario champs. Bobby Daragon led the Selects with two hits and he and Brian Simone each drove in two runs while Josh Federico and Paul Lamatia each scored twice for Windsor, which built an 8-0 lead.
SELECTS PERFECT - Aug.15
The Windsor Junior Selects won twice Friday and remain perfect after three games at the Canadian Junior Baseball Championship in Charlotte-town, P.E.I. The Selects won 6-2 early Friday over New Brunswick and then scored a 12-1 mercy win in five innings against Saskatchewan later in the day. Against New Brunswick, Jordan Tiegs allowed five hits and struck out 11 while Mike Delong had a pair of hits including a three-run home run in the third inning to put the Ontario champs in control. Brian Simone added a pair of hits. Pitcher Matt Rustalka went all the way to get the win against Saskatchewan while Simone and Paul Lamantia each had three hits and combined to drive in seven runs. Windsor closes out pool play today against the team from Quebec.
JUNIOR SELECTS AIM FOR BRONZE - Aug. 18
The Windsor Junior Selects will play for the bronze medal today after a pair of losses Sunday at the Canadian Junior Baseball Championship in Charlottetown, P.E.I. The Selects fell 4-3 to the second Quebec entry in the tournament to finish second in their pool and then lost a 2-1 game in 10 innings to British Columbia in the semifinals, which sends them to the bronze-medal game.
B.C. will play the top seed from Quebec for gold while the Selects will get a rematch with Quebec's second seed. Against B.C. in the semis, Brian Simone's solo homer in the second inning put the Ontario champs on the board, but B.C. tied it in the sixth inning and scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the 10th inning.
Bobby Daragon also had two hits for Windsor. In the game with Quebec for first place in the pool, Windsor held a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning, but couldn't hold on. Josh Federico, Paul Lamantia and Simone each drove in one run for the Selects.

The Windsor Junior Selects captured the bronze medal Monday at the Canadian Junior Baseball Championship in Charlottetown, P.E.I. After a pair of losses Sunday, the Selects rebounded to grab a medal with a 1-0 win in nine innings over the second entry from Quebec. The top entry from Quebec won gold with a 3-2 win over British Columbia.
Mike Delong had a complete game victory for the Ontario champion Selects. He allowed just three hits in nine innings while striking out 11. The Selects took advantage of an error in the ninth inning to grab the win.
Josh Federico reached on an error and then came home on a Brian Simone single for the game's only run. Simone and Branden Robitaille led the Windsor offence with two hits each.
