Over 170 former New York Collegiate Baseball League players competed in professional baseball leagues across the United States, Asia and Europe during the 2009 professional baseball season. The record-setting number of NYCBL alums playing professionally comes on the heels of a June 2009 Major League Baseball entry draft that saw an NYCBL record 42 current and/or former players selected.

Lidge, Harris and Motte all made appearances in the 2009 MLB postseason (Lidge pitched in the World Series) while Hunter Pence played in the 2009 MLB All-Star Game.
The Watertown Wizards also set a franchise record with 15 former players on professional rosters. The Purple and Gold had a record-number of five former players taken in the 2009 draft as well.
