08.01.2021

With the 2021-22 season around the corner, the U18 Selects are pleased to announce the new coaching staff set to lead the program.  Trevor Hildebrand (Winnipeg, MB) will take over as the program’s Head Coach and joining him will be assistant coaches Jessica Stott (Niverville, MB) and Phil Marcoux (Winnipeg, MB).  Lauren Taraschuk (Winnipeg, MB) will also join the program as the goaltending coach.  The coaches are excited to get the season started and get to work with this year’s group of players.

Trevor Hildebrand, Head Coach:

After spending the previous four seasons with the Eastman Selects U15 female program, Hildebrand is excited to have the opportunity to make the move to the U18 program.  Trevor is entering his 12th year of coaching and has had the pleasure of coaching every age of female in minor hockey from U8 to U18.  Four years of experience coaching at the female prep level allowed him to gain valuable insight into the recruiting process and he is looking forward to jumping back into the U18 high performance environment.  He is excited to be able to help the team showcase its players while assisting in their development path, all while the team pursues a second league championship.

Phil Marcoux, Assistant Coach:

Marcoux joins the Selects upon a recent return to Manitoba after spending the last 4 years in Calgary due to work relocation.  He has previous coaching experience with the St. Vital Victorias U18 AA program, the Shaftesbury Titans Prep, and his most recent stint was with the Winnipeg Warriors U15 AAA program.  Marcoux played AAA hockey with the Winnipeg Warriors and several seasons with the St. Boniface Riels of the MMJHL before having to call it an early playing career due to concussions.  With a primary responsibility coaching the forwards, Phil is looking forward to being back behind the bench and the opportunity to coach at the U18 AAA level.

Jessica Stott, Assistant Coach:

Stott joins the program after launching her coaching career with the St. Vital Victorias AA program where she coached with both the U13 and U15 programs over the last few seasons.  Stott is an alum of the Eastman Selects program while also playing Prep hockey with the Balmoral Hall Blazers and the Shaftesbury Titans Prep.  She earned herself an athletic scholarship and played four (4) seasons with the University of Connecticut Huskies (NCAA DI) and followed that up with a professional season overseas with the Neuberg Highlanders in Austria.  Stott has developed an extensive background in skill development and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program where her focus will be working with the team’s defence corp.

Lauren Taraschuk, Goaltending Coach:

After spending the last few seasons working with teams in the St. Vital Minor Hockey Association, Taraschuk will join the Selects as the team's goaltending coach.  She captured a MFHL league championship with the Central Plains Capitals, and followed that up with another two seasons suiting up for the Winnipeg Avros.  Following a successful AAA career she earned a scholarship to the University of Manitoba Bisons (USport) where she back-stopped the team to a National Championship in her second season.  Lauren is excited to bring her knowledge and experience to the team and mentor the goalies this season.
