The Proposed Recreation Plan

There is a lot of talk about the "Proposed" plan.  There was a meeting this past week for all Ice Group Users.  Here is what they told us.

The proposal is to repurpose Dover, Talbot, Langton and Waterford and build a 4 pad arena.  The cost savings to the county (taxpayers) would be significant, when you consider the hydro and labor costs to run 4 separate facilities.  The other advantage is that it could mean playing our games simultaneously on separate pads.  It will also allow smaller groups, currently from different arenas to partner up and open up some ice time for everyone.

The downside, is that the small communities will lose "THEIR" rink.  They will all be repurposed for things like pickle ball and indoor soccer.  

Again this is just a proposal and is likely years and years away.

That said, the county wants to hear your thoughts.  You are welcome to email your ward councillor or the mayor, if you are in favour of, or against the idea.  If you feel more comfortable, you can email me at rchlwaterford@gmail.com with your thoughts.
