| -- What This Page Does -- |
This page lets you preview, apply, and save website templates — ready-made layouts you can use to quickly change the look of your site instead of rebuilding it module by module. A template captures a site's layout, main navigation, banner, and page width settings all at once. You can use one of our built-in staff templates, or save your own site's current design as a reusable template to apply elsewhere — to another team page in your organization, or back to your own site later. |
| -- Choosing What You're Editing -- |
If your account only manages a single site, you'll go straight to the template editor for that site. If your account also manages leagues, teams, or custom pages underneath it, tabs appear across the top so you can switch between them:
Use the edit this site / edit this page button on the right of the tab bar to jump straight to the regular page editor for whatever site or page is currently selected. |
| -- Selecting a Site or Page -- |
On the League Sites, Team Sites, and Custom Pages tabs, use the Site (or Page) dropdown to pick which one you're working with. League and team sites are grouped the same way your organization is structured, so you can open a division or league heading to find the site underneath it. Nothing loads in the preview until a site or page is selected. |
| -- Previewing a Template -- |
The Previewing dropdown lists every template available for the selected site, grouped into:
Choosing anything from this list loads it into the preview pane below so you can see exactly how it will look before doing anything to your live site. The label above the preview reads ACTIVE when you're looking at the site's real, current layout ("Current Layout" is selected), and switches to PREVIEW as soon as you select a template — nothing is changed on the live site just by previewing it. Pick Current Layout at any time to go back to viewing the site as it really is. Our built-in staff templates for team and league sites are Default, Upcoming Season Launch, Visual Showcase, and Command Center. Custom pages have their own set: Default, Article with Header Image, and Photo Gallery. |
| -- Applying a Template -- |
Once you've selected a template and are happy with the preview, click apply to your site (the button label matches what you're applying to — your site, a league site, a team site, or a page). You'll be asked to confirm, with the option to create a backup template first — leave this checked unless you're sure you don't need the current layout saved. If you uncheck it, you'll get one more warning that the existing layout will be lost for good. Applying a template replaces the site's current layout, navigation, banner, and width settings with the template's. This cannot be undone except by applying a backup (or another template) back over it, so use the preview first and keep backups on unless you're certain. |
| -- Package-Level Requirements -- |
Some templates use features (like photo modules) that aren't included in every package level. If a template you're about to apply uses something above the target site's package, you'll see a note in the confirmation dialog letting you know. You can still go ahead — anything the site's package doesn't allow is simply left out when the template is applied, and the rest of the template applies normally. After applying, you'll be told how many items were skipped this way, if any. Sites on a trial always get the full template, regardless of their normal package level. |
| -- Saving Your Own Template -- |
To save the site or page you're currently viewing as a new template, click save as a new template. Give it a name (up to 50 characters), and optionally check Share this template with other sites in your organization so it becomes available to your other leagues, teams, and pages too. For team and league sites, a saved template captures the site's layout, navigation, banner, and width. For custom pages, only the page's layout is captured — navigation and banner don't apply to custom pages. |
| -- Managing Your Templates -- |
Click manage templates to see all of your saved templates in one place, split into My Templates, Backups, and Shared Templates (shared by other sites in your organization). From here you can:
You can only rename, re-share, or delete templates you saved yourself — shared templates from other sites in your organization are listed here for reference, but only their owner can edit or remove them. Deleting a template never affects sites it's already been applied to; it only removes the saved template itself. |
| -- Applying a Template to Many Sites at Once (Bulk Apply) -- |
On the League Sites, Team Sites, or Custom Pages tab, click bulk apply to apply one template to several sites or pages in a single action. Choose the template, then check off the sites (or select an entire league or division at once), and choose whether to create a backup for each one. Confirm to apply it everywhere you selected. Each site is applied independently, so if one fails for some reason the others still go through — you'll be told afterward exactly which succeeded and which didn't, along with how many backups were created and whether anything was skipped due to package level. |
| -- Backups -- |
Whenever you apply a template with Create a backup template checked, a copy of that site's layout — exactly as it was right before the template was applied — is saved to your Backups list. If the site had no custom layout to save, the backup safely falls back to capturing its default design instead. If there's genuinely nothing to back up, no backup is created and you'll see a note saying so. To undo a template you applied, just select the matching backup from the Previewing dropdown and apply it like any other template. |
