HomeTeamsONLINE Sports Websites for Teams, Leagues & Schools
To eliminate the confusion of domains, we offer to register and maintain a domain for our ALL-STAR and CHAMPION users.
This domain will be registered under OUR NAME but will forward to your sites Home Page. This means we can directly access your domain to make sure it is working properly and set up additional features. Even though it is under our account, the domain is YOURS. If at any time in the future you wish to use your domain for other purposes, or you no longer wish to have an ALL-STAR or CHAMPION site with us, we can transfer the domain to your own account. You will then have to maintain and pay for the domain on your own.
I am an ALL-STAR/CHAMPION user. How do I get my free domain?
If you missed the link to set up a free domain on your confirmation page, just send us a quick email and we can set this up for you. Specify that it is a domain request in the subject and let us know your HTO USERNAME and the name of the domain that you are requesting. You can visit UseYourOwnTeamName.com to check the availability of your domain name, but make sure not to follow the process and purchase the domain: http://HTOsports.com/DomainHelp.htm
Once you have found an available domain name, send us an email and we'll register it for you. Our email address is Support@HomeTeamsONLINE.com but we prefer that you use the contact form.
Free Domain Policy
Since we are working with and paying another company to manage domains, we have a strict policy on what we can do as part of the Free Domain Feature.
- We can register one available domain per ALL-STAR or CHAMPION account.
- If you already have a domain through UseYourOwnTeamName.com or another registrar, we can transfer this domain to our ownership to manage and for future renewals, provided the domain is available for transfer. We will purchase the transfer but we'll need to work together to complete the process.
- We cannot refund a domain purchase. If you purchased a domain before upgrading or before you were aware of the free domain feature, you'll have to manage this domain on your own. Set up the forwarding to get your domain working. If you renew next year we can transfer this domain to renew it. We can register a different domain for you if you wish to take advantage of the free domain feature.
- We cannot change your domain name once it has been registered. If there was a spelling error or issue with the domain that you requested, your only option is to register a new domain. Since we have already purchased the domain, you will have to register a new domain on your own account. When submitting your domain request, take care that you have requested the exact domain that you want, ant there are not any similar domains directing to other sites that may confuse your viewers.
- Keep in mind that the domain feature is one of many features available to our ALL-STAR and CHAMPION users. The subscription fee for your site is not affected by the domain feature. Like any other feature available, you can choose to take advantage of the feature or not. Many of our ALL-STAR and CHAMPION users choose to manage their own domains.
- Keep these limitations in mind when requesting a domain. We at HomeTeamsONLINE want you to get the best experience possible in managing your own website, which is why we have extended this feature to both our CHAMPION and ALL-STAR users. We will do what we can to get your domain up and running and ensure that it is working for as long as you have a site with us. Since we are not actually a domain registrar we are limited in what we are able to do for your domain, and we appreciate your understanding with all domain related issues.

Email Forwarding
Email Forwarding can not be set up with HTO managed domains at this time. If you wish to set up email forwarding, or to set up a POP-3 Email account for your domain, you must purchase a domain on your own, though our Support Department would be happy to assist you to direct this domain to your HTO website.
Domain Transfers
Transferring a domain is a simple process, provided that we work together to share the necessary information. There is typically a 10 day limit on a transfer, so we'll need to make sure we do everything needed to complete the transfer within the allotted time. This process should go pretty smoothly provided we take all the necessary steps. We typically review all emails within 24 hours of receiving them, and place transfer related emails on high priority. Provided you follow the information provided, we should be able to quickly and easily transfer this domain and ensure that it is working for you.
Important:
- You do not need to transfer a domain to get it working for you. You can link the domain to your Home Page from within its current domain account. The benefit of a transfer is that we can manage it as part of your site and make sure it is always working, including handling all future domain renewals.
- External features like POP-3 email accounts will be lost in a transfer (any email you ave @yourdomain.com will be lost in the transfer). You may not want to transfer if you have email accounts.
Step One - Verify the Domain Owner
Only the person whose email is listed as the Registrant of the domain, and who receives all emails regarding this domain is able to complete a transfer. If you are not the Registrant, you will need to have the current Registrant of the domain contact us so we can work with them, or have the current Registrant contact the domain company to change the email on the domain account to your email address.
Step Two - Confirm the domain is not locked
New domains that have recently been registered are locked for about 3 months. If you have recently registered this domain, we'll have to wait to transfer the domain. Newly registered domains are locked for 60 days. We recommend you contact us about a month before the domain expires. If you are still an ALL-STAR or CHAMPION user, or planning on renewing at that level, we'll work together to transfer this domain so we can handle the domain renewal for you.
Only ACTIVE domains can be transferred. If your domain has expired, it is in a "grace period" for about two months and cannot be transferred. The only thing you can do to activate this domain is re-register it again under your own account, or request that we register this domain for you after the grace period.
Domains with extra security and privacy settings cannot be transferred. If your email address is not visible by doing a standard WHOIS lookup for your domain, the transfer will not be possible until the privacy settings are removed.
Step Three - Determine your current domain Registrar
If your domain has been registered under UseYourOwnTeamName.com, we can actually do what is called an ACCOUNT CHANGE. This is the easiest way to transfer the domain. You'll just need to login to your domain account, press the account change button and replace the contact info with our own info. Contact us if this is the case, and we'll provide you with the necessary steps and contact info.
If you have registered your domain with a different Registrar, such as Yahoo.com or GoDaddy.com, we will have to work together to complete a standard transfer. Contact us with your domain name and we'll purchase and initiate the transfer.
CONTACT US with your HTO USERNAME, the DOMAIN NAME, and let us know whether your domain is set up through UseYourOwnTeamName.com or another Registrar. Also verify that your email address is listed for the domain Registrant, otherwise, we'll have to confirm this before we take the next step.
Step Four - Receive and send us the Authorization Codes
If your domain is not registered through UseYourOwnTeamName.com, we'll have to purchase and send the domain transfer request to your current Registrar.
You will then be sent an email from UseYourOwnTeamName.com with Transaction ID and Security Code. Ignore the content of this email; it provides the directions for us. Just forward the email, or email us with these codes, and we can process the transfer.
An Authorization Code or EPP key is also required. You can either request an email for this in your domain account, or contact the support of your domain company to ask for this. This code is required to complete the transfer, but we won't need it to start the transfer.
Step Five - Finalize the transfer
The fifth step varies with each company. Some companies require you to login to your domain account to accept the transfer. Other companies simply wait a certain number of days, typically about 5 days, and then release the domain at that time.
The best thing to do is contact the domain company. Find out what needs to be done to release the domain, if the domain will be released on its own after a certain time or if the domain has been released.
Once this is completed we can set up the DNS for your domain and manage it for as long as you have a site with us.
