HomeTeamsONLINE Sports Websites for Teams, Leagues & Schools
Starting Setup Choices
To create a website for your sports organization, you need to choose a starting setup so HomeTeamsONLINE can "jump start" your SETUP TREE. Their are four common setups listed along with a basic option if you are not sure. Keep in mind you can edit everything from your SETUP TREE, so any pick will be OK.
We recommend you go ahead and make a pick and start editing, but we've included some details here if you want to learn more about the setup options:
A school program with Varsity/JV/Freshman
This is a very common situation. You will also be able to add more groupings and expand your setup once you get started. One tricky thing about this type of setup is that the team name is usually the same for all the different age groups. It is not a bad idea to indicate the type of team in the name as shown in above with an abbreviation such as (V) for Varsity, etc. This is not required - you can repeat the same team name if you want - but sometimes it is helpful to add that to the name to identify which team it is more easily.
A club/program with different age groups, etc.
This is very similar to the first choice, except we have grouped by age. We show this because it is a very common choice, but the grouping titles can be edited easily so the first two choices are very similar. Also you can add more groups, so if you have, for example, ten age groups you can add those to your SETUP TREE.
A league (no subdivisions)
Usually a "League" has teams which compete amongst themselves, so you want all your teams to be in the same group. Teams in the same group can be listed in your "Standings" automatically. Your teams can also be playing teams that are not represented on your website - the schedule and standing will also include those games if you want.
You can add as many teams as you need to when you edit your SETUP TREE - we show just a few to save room. SO even if your league has 40 teams competing this is the right starting point for your website.
A league with subdivisions (age/region/other)
This setup is similar to the last league except we have added subdivisions to get you started. You can name your subdivisions/groupings to match your actual league, and of course you will be able to add more groupings and more teams. You can even add another level of groups so, for example, you could have an "east" conference with several divisions and a "west" conference with several divisions, just like a typical professional league.
I'm not sure... Start me off with a basic setup
Yep, we said it was basic! But if you are a real do-it-yourself person, you will be able to click on this and expand it to just about anything you want! Add divisions, subdivisions, mens/womans, regions, countries, even planets... and as many teams as you need. Our "gut" tells us that if you have read this far, you will want to start here and control every detail of your setup.
